I've been meaning to start a thread on this for a few days but I've been too busy LISTENING TO IT INCESANTLY instead.
I despair a bit that Morr stuff doesn't get mentioned on ILM as much as it used to, something makes me think that the hipster crowd have moved on from it. Shame, really, as this is probably the best year for them so far:- Faking the Books, Meet Next Life, Real Ghosts (on CCO but you know what I mean) and now this.
It was a bit wary of the amount of collaboration on this one, and on first listen it did seem pretty fractured and unfocused. Now it's had good air and I'm more used to it I think it's his strongest album to date, even if a couple of tracks are not great to say the least.
However, "COUCHES IN ALLEYS" is the best song I've heard this year despite my usual hatred of Death Cab for Cutie, the opener has the singer from Lali Puna AND an Anticon MC, Front to Back's a great piece of MaxTundraism and Beequeen's the most interesting thing sonically I've heard for a while.
BUT - some of the tracks wear their influences a bit too hard on their sleeve, I mentioned the Max Tundra but also the last track is Consequence by the Notwist, the second one is Ulrich-Schnauss-tastic and Anything's just shit and derivative. It's a very up-and-down album.
Still, it's rarely been off Winamp since I got it. GIVE IT DA LOVE!

what about THE GO FIND. that album is under everyone's radar as well.

I sort of love the Go Find. The gratuitous Pavement rip-off one I find off-putting and there's another one which grates for some reason. First two tracks are da bomb though.

I'm glad I'm not imagining the Pavement rip-off!
But aside from it and the first two tracks, it sort of bores me.

Er, uh... but back on topic. Styrofoam album is nice. I just need to spend more time with it.
And, like was mentioned above, a song like "Couches in Alleys" is so good it can't even be ruined by Ben Gibbard.

well it kind of is on topic, styrofoam did most of the production on the go find, did he not?
haven't heard nothing's lost yet though... his last album bored me. but based on your recommendation i'm going to check it out.

I do think that if Styro's last album bored you, this one will too. I like the Postal Service but only
some Death Cab For Cutie, and to be honest the Ben Gibbard track on "Nothing's Lost" pisses me off no end. About half is good, half is so schmindie you just want to punch it in the face.
IMHO.

two months pass...
i love "i'm what's there to show..." and what i've heard of this so far pleases my ears greatly. it's probably no surprise that I find the Anticon guest spot as thoroughly unwelcome here as it was on the Hood album but most of the guests seem to fit quite well..

three years pass...
ten years pass...
New We Can Never Go Home release out now. Instrumentals primarily, with some sampled vocals. Listened to the cd (digital release, maybe vinyl?, plus small 300? batch of cds released via Greek label Sound in Silence) on the morning commute. Not bad for car radio. One listen in, maybe doesn't feel as meaty as earlier work, but will see how more listens change that impression.
