Does anyone know what this is going to be like? Gangsta? R&B? A basketball player's rap album hasn't gotten this much free press since Iverson's "Jewelz".

I am interested in hearing it, but expect it to be a total DUD.

This is a joke, right?

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 12 November 2004 00:38 (twenty-one years ago)

As funny as it seems, no.

David Aldridge said on TNT that it's an R&B record.

Begs2Differ (Begs2Differ), Friday, 12 November 2004 03:40 (twenty-one years ago)

i once read he said he was going to record a country song with his 78-year-old next door neighbor.

he doesn't sound too tight on that Allure track

Begs2Differ (Begs2Differ), Friday, 12 November 2004 05:35 (twenty-one years ago)

haha this shit is getting crazy

cinniblount (James Blount), Friday, 12 November 2004 05:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Charles Barkley tonight on TNT was hilarious. He said something to the effect of:

"I know a lot of people think this is funny. But in all serious, some relative of Artest needs to get him psychological help immediately."

Aaron W (Aaron W), Friday, 12 November 2004 05:39 (twenty-one years ago)

(seriousness... sorry, it be late)

Aaron W (Aaron W), Friday, 12 November 2004 05:40 (twenty-one years ago)

too funny that he has to take time off cause it's sooooo tiring making a record AND playing ball AND making tons of scratch at the same time.

tk (tk), Friday, 12 November 2004 05:43 (twenty-one years ago)

He's the hoops version of Manny Ramirez.

Begs2Differ (Begs2Differ), Friday, 12 November 2004 05:44 (twenty-one years ago)

o i don't know if he's that good

cinniblount (James Blount), Friday, 12 November 2004 05:45 (twenty-one years ago)

mustache = fucked-up hair
self-control = remembering to go to game/wear pants
defensive specialist who is averaging 24 ppg so far this season = well, manny can hit

Begs2Differ (Begs2Differ), Friday, 12 November 2004 05:51 (twenty-one years ago)

your boy schrempf has a jazz album coming out

cinniblount (James Blount), Friday, 12 November 2004 05:52 (twenty-one years ago)

MY BOY SCHREMPF?

Blount we are now at war. You are dead to me. From now on, I marshal every resource to make sure that you--

oh, you mean cause he was on the Blazers. eh, he sucked by then, so whatever.

Begs2Differ (Begs2Differ), Friday, 12 November 2004 05:56 (twenty-one years ago)

what does detlef play?

tk (tk), Friday, 12 November 2004 06:09 (twenty-one years ago)

haha i was just fucking with matt

cinniblount (James Blount), Friday, 12 November 2004 06:10 (twenty-one years ago)

d'oh!

tk (tk), Friday, 12 November 2004 06:12 (twenty-one years ago)

i love in an interview w/ artest (from the front seat of his ride no less) how he was all -

"I have three goals for my life this year. First, go platinum ... no wait ... first, have my baby girls, then go platinum, then win a championship."

hah hah - go platinum.

tk (tk), Friday, 12 November 2004 06:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I think a couple of Shaq's albums went platinum, so hell, anything can happen.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Friday, 12 November 2004 06:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I would so fucking buy a Manny Ramirez rap album, tho...

Naive Teen Idol (Naive Teen Idol), Friday, 12 November 2004 06:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Taking a month off from his job to record his own rap record? This isn't another one of those NaSoAlMo projects, is it?

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Friday, 12 November 2004 16:59 (twenty-one years ago)

The local news had a little thing on the T-Wolve's Troy Hudson, he's got a rap record coming out soon....did it in the offseason and partially when he was hurt last year...saw the video shoot....It sounded very very crunk.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Friday, 12 November 2004 17:15 (twenty-one years ago)

artest on my fantasy team is killing me. too bad platinum isn't a stat, but i don't have shaq or troy hudson either. and isn't there an image of kobe strumming an acoustic guitar somewhere? christ, is he making a record too?

Beta (abeta), Friday, 12 November 2004 17:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Kobe already made a RECORD!

I saw a Chris Webber album used a while back.

Shmool McShmool (shmuel), Friday, 12 November 2004 20:02 (twenty-one years ago)

i feel compelled to mention wayman tisdale, but i don't really have anything salient to say about him

metonymus prime (rgeary), Friday, 12 November 2004 22:31 (twenty-one years ago)

kobe's album actually looks like a passable neo-soul thing!

metonymus prime (rgeary), Friday, 12 November 2004 22:31 (twenty-one years ago)

the kind that would have a twelve minute "psychedelic" paean to his baby momma at the end

metonymus prime (rgeary), Friday, 12 November 2004 22:32 (twenty-one years ago)

from artest's first interview since the fight:

"During the televised interview, Artest plugged a new CD from a group on his record label three times and wore a T-shirt and hat emblazoned with the logo of TruWarier Records."

6335, Tuesday, 23 November 2004 17:05 (twenty-one years ago)

One could argue he has a little more incentive for it to sell these days — $5 million fine and all.

Naive Teen Idol (Naive Teen Idol), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 17:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Is there a fine on top of his suspension w/out pay?

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 18:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Probably. Plus SOME massive fuckin' legal fees (and at least one huge civil suit.)

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 18:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry, the fine IS the suspension w/o pay.

Naive Teen Idol (Naive Teen Idol), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 19:03 (twenty-one years ago)
