addresses and descriptions below....

[ ASTERISK* GALLERY ]
out in the wilds of the East Williamsburg Industrial Park, right near the Morgan dorms (ahem... Bushwick), lies a second floor space host to the best parties around. A show room with a stage, a big gallery, a couch filled hang out hallway, a lounge-y patio, plus a rooftop with an great view of the twinkling lights of the city. Easy to get to, right around the corner from the Montrose stop on the L train. Staffed by the awesomenest folk around.
258 Johnson Ave @ Bushwick | EastWilliamsburg/Bushwick, Brooklyn
L to Montrose | 8PM | $6 | ALL AGES + CHEAP BOOZE! | no phone

[ MIGHTY ROBOT ]
smack dab in the middle of the Southside, Williamsburg proper, a legendary 2nd floor space and awesome huge hang out roof, all in the shadow of the Williamsburg Bridge. Big warm cozy raw space, couches, hot bartenders, beautiful enveloping art projections on the walls, enormous rooftop hang out space to watch the trains go by, beer in hand. Sounds great in there too.
401 Wythe Ave btwn S 6th & Broadway | Williamsburg, Brooklyn
L to Bedford, G to Broadway, JM to Marcy | all ages | doors 8pm | $7

[ DAS OATH ]
spastic metalloid hardcore with personnel split in half between Brooklyn and Amsterdam. Full length out on Dim Mak. "More frightening than most hardcore, too spastic for most metalheads" - DustedMagazine.com "a fine balance between classic hardcore, structurized arty noise and 70' punk rock. Mix the energy of The Germs, the progressive sound of earlier Killing Joke with the gritty noise overload of DC's Void with anthemic undertones ala Agnostic Front, Das Oath creates a sound that no other band comes up with in the world of loud music. They've not only fucked with punk's status quo artistically but have expanded and championed upon the very best of hardcore and punk." - DimMak.com "glorious combo of mosh-worthy breakdowns, drum pummeling, and screamo yowling with hardcore's brute force is invigorating and corrosive enough to hypothetically inspire murder with bare hands. But in a good way." - Village Voice
http://www.dimmak.com/mp3s/index.php

[ COP ON FIRE ]
COP ON FIRE is a new double drummed insanity rush from Joel (x PARTS AND LABOR), Oran (x X27, current CHILD ABUSE), Robert Paredez (Young Sinners) and friends. See Robert screaming, wreathing, and tangled up in microphone cables at your feet.

[ the RITES ]
back to it's roots hardcore ala Poison Idea and Discharge. "Members of Tear It Up, Down In Flames, and Cut The Shít, has turned into a vicious and obnoxious monster. Blasts of raw and confrontational hardcore with an early '80s punk sort of recklessness. Their live set is charged with over-the-top energy and anger" - ManicRide Records.com The Rites definitely are a bunch of angry young men, every song is delivered like a head butt from a very angry sumo wrestler because you just spat in his bowl of noodles, fast, intense and bloody hard. The performance is like nothing I've ever really experienced before, the drumming is impeccable. See this band live, see the energy, see the casualties in the pit, and see how many 1 minute songs these guys actually play on the set sheet." - Punktastic.com
http://www.manicriderecords.com/RITESmedia.html

[ CALIFORNIA LIGHTENING ]
Jenny Hoysten & Bianca Sparta started California Lightening before they formed ERASE ERRATA. Now CL is back. "Musically they take influences from the likes of The Beach Boys, Pink Floyd and maybe Soft Machine... CALIFORNIA LIGHTENING began making music and recording together in 1998. From their noise-pop recordings to their dancey and quirky live shows, the band defies definition. Debut full length, due out on Troubleman next year." - TroublemanUnlimited.com
--ERASE ERRATA MP3--> http://www.eraseerrata.com/

[ DA HAWNAY TROOF ]
Vice Cooler, aka Chris Trochton from xBxRx screams out the booty shakin' áss anthems over Miami booty beats, in gym shortshorts.
--MP3--> http://www.deletedart.org/audio/hawnay_troof_-_dLTD008_-_man_on_my_bak.mp3

[ SQUIDS ]
Helen W. from long ago London grrl screamers PETTY CRIME and Sonia from DC legends MELTDOWN make this four piece as obscure-brilliant-grrl-core all star as you could get.

[ Aa / BIG A little a ]
Aa / BIG A little a is a five piece, four percussionist choreographed noise & flashing lights & sweat & (most of the time) stationary marching band explosion. "A Brooklyn dance party for the thinking feller with primitive vocals, primitive drums and weird electronic effects" - Narnack. Record out on Narnack.
--MP3-> http://www.narnackrecords.com/mp3/nck7011-1.mp3

[ NIGHTMERICA ]
Georgie & Ian Japanther & Pat Foran make coed awesome fire you up feel great awesome punk.

Lastly, my lovely ladyfriend Heather recently completed a photo essay of pictures she took on her and my recent trip to Southern Mexico and Guatemala. It was an amazing experience - or rather multitudes of amazing experiences shoved into two and a half weeks & many many locales.

anyway, Heather (who's a journalist in real life) has put together a really sharp and gorgeous website about out trip, with lots of pictures (very few of either of us, thankfully.)

if you're interested, go to --> http://www.toddpnyc.com/adelante2/

she made an awesome site about our trip to Ecuador & Peru last year too, that one's at --> http://toddpnyc.com/adelante/

see y'all out!
