Scroll down for "Sicy's" 'U2 tattoo right after it was done! It's on the small of my back'

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Saturday, 13 November 2004 08:13 (twenty-one years ago)

how about a tatu tattoo?

Remy (x Jeremy), Saturday, 13 November 2004 08:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I think the guy at the top's ridiculous Liquid Sky/botched Adam Ant make-up job is worse than his tattoo, honestly.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 13 November 2004 08:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't get over the fact he coordinated it with his shirt. The club the picture was taken at - Club Bang - is right down the street from me. I'm thinking I might sally forth on a little anthropological expedition tomorrow night to check out the denizens.

Remy (x Jeremy), Saturday, 13 November 2004 08:17 (twenty-one years ago)

bring a camera

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 13 November 2004 08:18 (twenty-one years ago)

ironically that kurt cobain tattoo upthread looks a bit like axl rose!

latebloomer (latebloomer), Saturday, 13 November 2004 08:18 (twenty-one years ago)

(the Club Bang Halloween Party!)

Remy (x Jeremy), Saturday, 13 November 2004 08:22 (twenty-one years ago)

chunklet had a tattoo challenge consisting of a huge list of bands, a tattoo of whom they would pay for you to have permanently inscribed.

i think one of the examples they showed was a guy with a tattoo on his neck (!) of mini-me dancing on a huge "chumbawumba" keyboard.

de Chastelard, Saturday, 13 November 2004 08:39 (twenty-one years ago)

"Starland Vocal Band? They suck!"

Captain Sleep (Captain Sleep), Saturday, 13 November 2004 09:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I know a girl who's got tattoos of multiple indie LABEL logos -- Saddle Creek, etc.

Jordan (Jordan), Saturday, 13 November 2004 09:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Some acquaintance of a friend of mine had (and presumably sill has) a tattoo that used to make me wince with contempt. The design featured the classic Einstursende Neubauten logo ........ http://www.feelee.ru/db/artists/feelee/einstuerzende/photos/einstuerzende_neubauten.gif ....

but over it in New York Times font was the word, "ROLLINS". This guy had seen Henry's tattoo of same and figured it was a Rollins original design. Talk about not doin' your fuckin' homework before making a descision with permanent ramifications.

Have you guys ever looked at the letters secrion of EGM and such?
Some people have VIDEO GAME tattoos. FINAL FANTASY etc.

Hi, I am a genius. a big one. (AaronHz), Saturday, 13 November 2004 09:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I once saw a bloke getting off the bus here in Hull with a Kathy Kirby tattoo on the back of his hand.

So I win.

noodle vague (noodle vague), Saturday, 13 November 2004 12:13 (twenty-one years ago)

A guy i went to high school with had the cover of a sublime album covering his back. Once he heard me say something a bit negative about them at a party, and he just turned around and pulled up his shirt, like "Eat that, Rebecca."
As you will guess, it did not humble me.

rebecca s (rebecca S), Sunday, 14 November 2004 01:18 (twenty-one years ago)

secrion = section, oops

Hi, I am a genius. a big one. (AaronHz), Sunday, 14 November 2004 01:21 (twenty-one years ago)

ironically that kurt cobain tattoo upthread looks a bit like axl rose!

fuck i thought it WAS axl rose

My name is Kenny (My name is Kenny), Sunday, 14 November 2004 01:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Eat that, Rebecca

I'd much sooner get a tattoo that said "EAT THAT, REBECCA" than one that extolled the arguable merits of Sublime.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Sunday, 14 November 2004 02:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Sublime dude has got to be the indisputable winner here. I can think of lamer bands to indelibly adorn your body with, but a full-back piece based on one mediocre album and an overdose?! Lame times infinity.

briania (briania), Sunday, 14 November 2004 02:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I just want to re-assert the awfulness of this one....

http://www.bmezine.com/tattoo/A30428/high/xxycbkjw.jpg

Sorry, Anthony.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Sunday, 14 November 2004 02:30 (twenty-one years ago)

No matter how big a pud I may make of myself in this life, AT LEAST I DON'T HAVE A FUCKING GOOD CHARLOTTE TATTOO!

That is supposed to be the guy from good charlotte, right? Take away the makeup and the piercings and you'd have Eminem, though.

Hi, I am a genius. a big one. (AaronHz), Sunday, 14 November 2004 02:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I have a Chris De Burgh tattoo on the small of my back.

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Sunday, 14 November 2004 02:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I have a Chris De Burgh tattoo on the small of my back.

Still better than a Good Charlotte tatooo. Don't pay that ferryman, dude.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Sunday, 14 November 2004 02:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I make it a matter of principle never to pay ferrymen, or any other kind of water-based transport. I once took a hovercraft ride, and when the guy tried to collect a fair I said "Chris De Burgh says to go fuck yourself".

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Sunday, 14 November 2004 02:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Hahahahahahahaha. I hope you told the authorities later in the evening that you were simply high on emotion at the time.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Sunday, 14 November 2004 02:46 (twenty-one years ago)

No, but An Old Friend told them I was a Borderline psychopath, and that if they arrested me he would be Taking It To The Top. Before I knew it, I'm Going Home.

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Sunday, 14 November 2004 02:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Enigma.

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Sunday, 14 November 2004 04:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Grateful Dead? My dad got an acid bear next to the soaring eagle and the gothic-fonted BLACK SPRING.
Nothing on Sublime guy, though.

rebecca s (rebecca S), Sunday, 14 November 2004 04:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh man, my friend grew up in Evansville, Indiana and some kid in his class in high school spent a month methodically poking himself in the forearm with a ballpoint pen in order to tatoo the Slayer logo on himself.
When he finished someone had to break it to him "Uh, you left out the 'L'".

Mike Dxon, Sunday, 14 November 2004 06:37 (twenty-one years ago)

ouch

latebloomer (latebloomer), Sunday, 14 November 2004 06:57 (twenty-one years ago)

take the L out of Slayer and get...

max davenport (axehead), Sunday, 14 November 2004 07:29 (twenty-one years ago)

True story: at the Big Day Out last summer here in NZ we saw an older woman (in the rode hard, put up wet category, to use my native Texas slang that is so popular with the world) with all of the members of INXS tatooed on her right arm. Portraits and autographs. No one loves rock and roll like she does. Fuck Iggy Pop. Iggy Pop loved the Doors, but he wasn't droppin' a portrait Ray Manzerak on his forearm. Homegilr put the Farris family on her arm, man! I love that woman!

The Funky Bassoonist, Sunday, 14 November 2004 09:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Ever seen anyone with an Ali G tattoo?

Ian Christe (Ian Christe), Sunday, 14 November 2004 18:43 (twenty-one years ago)

how does that kid have such smooth facial hair and such intense armpit hair? I've got such the opposite problem.
-- Remy (jcoomb...), November 13th, 2004.

Try shaving.

There must be someone with a Weird Al tattoo.

Sasha (sgh), Monday, 15 November 2004 00:44 (twenty-one years ago)

kiss make-up full facial? of vinnie vincent's golden ankh face?

Ian Christe (Ian Christe), Monday, 15 November 2004 00:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I saw something on tv about a hardcore Weird Al fan who not only had a tattoo of Mr. Yankovic's likeness and autograph, but those of Weird Al's BACKING BAND. They were large tattoos, so they had to go all over -- one being on the guy's calf. I think I remember the TV person interviewing Al's guitar player, who wasn't entirely comfortable with the homage.

Klamm (VampireSubmarine), Monday, 15 November 2004 01:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I found it. Here is your winner:

http://weirdal.0catch.com/tattoo.html

Archie Holland (VampireSubmarine), Monday, 15 November 2004 01:14 (twenty-one years ago)

That is colossally pathetic.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 15 November 2004 01:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I think it's sweet.

Klamm (VampireSubmarine), Monday, 15 November 2004 01:16 (twenty-one years ago)

It's...something all right. I don't know how to respond to something like this - is it stupidity, or genius? Maybe the jokes on us...

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Monday, 15 November 2004 01:19 (twenty-one years ago)

"I think I remember the TV person interviewing Al's guitar player, who wasn't entirely comfortable with the homage. "

no shit!

latebloomer (latebloomer), Monday, 15 November 2004 01:27 (twenty-one years ago)

At risk of offending some, I'd like to posit that getting a tatoo of ANY band is kind of lame.

Does anyone else remember the episode of Conan O'Brien where John Waters is the guest and he starts talking about how great it would be to get a Patch Adams tatoo?

Hurting (Hurting), Monday, 15 November 2004 05:03 (twenty-one years ago)

ROCK AND ROLL
IS THE SOUL
