asking for a friend. apparently there's this scene in a nightclub, when Carlito first enters. Some Spanish/Mexican song is playing, lots of horns are involved somehow, etc. From the '70s, I'm guessing. He claims the tune isn't listed in the credits, I dunno. Anyone know the tune?

Ay-yo Gear,
Whut chicanery is this which has summoned me forthx0r from my noble realm of slovenly leisure?

The answer you're seeking, in any case, is in Willie Colón's Cosa Nuestra (one of the greatest salsa albums ever ish'd, fyi). I vaguely remember that scene in the movie, 'cause of the music, but I can't recall whether the song being played's "Ché Ché Colé" or "Te Conozco (Bacalao)". Either way, tell yr friend to cop it! It's an all-time classic, that!

PS: Hector Lavoe's the singer; Willie Colón's the bandleader + trombone player.

also featured in the club scenes : 'i love music' by rozalla. flagged up at the time as a deliberate throwback to peal period 70's disco, it made an absolute mockery of kylie's 'step back in time' which was all about flares and comedy afros. this was genuine, heartfelt and ace.

I just saw this the other night and wanted the soundtrack immediately. Fabulous.

read the two books upon which DePalma based the movie--"After Hours" and "Carlito's Way," by Edwin Torres. As good as any crime/street novels I know...
