Now that Eminem has sampled it, I guess that if he releases it as a single, we will have enough of it, but until then I declare myself a fan and a lover of the 80s production of this naive pop song. So SHAME ON ME!!! CLASSIC... without any doubt!

but TS vs 'Cry Little Sister'?

I did like this song, a nice melodic ballad. Other than "Love...Thy Will Be Done", it was the only thing she did that I liked though.

I remember reading some blurb in a girl teen magazine along the lines of "Watch out Madonna - there's another singularly-named singer coming atcha and her name begins with M too!!"

Martika is in the Mr. T video Be Somebody or Be Somebody's Fool, which may qualify her for sainthood.

twenty years pass...

for the first time in probably 20-30 years, I heard the Pointer Sisters's "Dare Me" come up on a stream and it unlocked a memory of where I'd heard it before.....

HERE!!! with Martika singing it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v31cNsqzQss

This would fit seamlessly onto Martika's first album. which is a perfect album. I was somehow unaware that this was her origin story, but, UK

That is a good album. I checked it out last year because Toy Soldiers has always been one of my top 80s pop songs. This may not be news to anyone else, but that's when I learned that Jennifer Love Hewitt and a pre-Black Eyed Peas Fergie are in the background children's choir, because they were fellow cast members with Martika on KIDS Incorporated.

She was SO the cool girl on Kids Incorporated. I was obsessed with her and with Ryan. <3
