Songs that reminds of you something particular

Everytime I listen to Mariah Carey's "Without You" I get teary eyed because it reminds me of the very painful suicide scene in Rules of Attraction(even though it's a cover version in the movie).

The cover version by Nilsson?

When I listen to Pitseleh by Elliott Smith it reminds me of the last breakup I had.

When I listen to Don't think twice it's alright by Bob Dylan it reminds me of primary school, because instead of a school bell signalling the end of lunchtime, they played an instrumental version of that song. I never realised how odd that was till I grew up.

When I listen to disillusion by Badly Drawn Boy it reminds me of my wedding, as it was the first song we played at the ceremony when we'd tied the knot. Ironic name.

The Archers theme was the music that my Mum and Dad would say marked bedtime, back when I was five or thereabouts.

Oh, so he did the original? Sorry.

"Push" by the Cure reminds me of walking across the East Quad of my college on a beautiful late spring evening, as it was blasting out of someone's dorm window>

"If I Were With Her Now" by Spiritualized reminds me of ill-advisedly getting involved with someone I worked with in the summer of `92. "Missing" by Everything But the Girl reminds me of basically beating myself up after being dumped by same.
"Sumerhead" by the Cocteau Twins reminds me of the feelings of peace and reconcilliation after she and I spent the better part of a year not talking and avoiding each other, only for her and I to patch things up (purely platonically) at the company Christmas party.

The entirety of JOY: 1967-1990 by Ultra Vivid Scene reminds me of my first year paylessly working at a small music magazine.

Underworld 'Juanita' - on a bus to Hertford, grey skies, dead trees

"Death Defying" by the Hoodoo Gurus, reminds me of the train traip between NYC and Quogue, L.I. in..I guess the summer of `85, commuting between a crappy job as a dishwasher in Westhampton and a job as a graphic designer's apprentice in Manhattan.

There was an especially dreary January of 1988 when I had the month off from school (they used to call that "J-term"...you either took a month off or did some extracurricular thang on campus), and took a temp job doing customer service for a mail order business...the aptly named GRIMM MARKETING (they sold "tennis bracelets")...based out of an apartment near the U.N. During that freezing, snowy slushy month, I listened exclusively to Strangeways Here We Come by the Smiths and Garage Days Re-Revisited by Metallica (an odd pairing, I know). I can't hear a track off of either without immediately picturing that dreary place and shitty situation. As a result, I'm not greatly fond of either album (even despite the Killing Joke cover on the latter).

The Cure's "The Holy Hour" reminds me of a time about three years ago where I walked down on a chilly day to Southwood (a massive development about two miles from me that will take until 2020 to build...Mountain Goats fans know the song "Southwood Plantation Road", and that refers to the same area and the aforementioned road does end at the headquarters to the development after winding through deep woods, cruddy houses, and pastures) when barely anything had been built yet. Near the lake at the centre of the development at the time was a sixty-foot high mound of sand with loads of vegetation on it that formed a bluff overlooking a large puddle (it has rained for several days) and I happened to be listening to Faith and I sat there for an hour in the abrasive winds, admiring the scenery while it was still there.

The entirety of A Brief History of the Twentieth Century, the Gang of Four compilation, reminds me of going to a party in the East Village during one very bleak, snowy January in 1991. I'd gotten there too early (as is often the case) and bided my time by walking around the neighborhood (East 4th between A and B) listening to the tape on my walkman. For some reason, Go4's stark, funky agitprop (especially the lonely parping melodicas) seemed like the perfect soundtrack to the snowy, decrepit atmosphere (this was way before the East Village's wine bar/velvet rope facelift).
