What group is due for a reunion?

Withhold from the Led Zepplin, Beatles, and Police reunion desires. Of couse. We all would want those. By the way, you can't bring back anyone from the dead either. Don't worry about someone's voice quality now or how much their talent has diminshed. Just assume they are as good as new.

I would give my right eye to see the original Guns N' Roses lineup that made Appetite for Destruction. The original group of rock n' roll badboys. I probably won't be the only one to request that. Also, I want the original Anthrax lineup. The Fistfull of Metal one. Judas Priest would be nice again, as well as Rush (although they are recording again).

I think it worth pointing out that a Police reunion would be the worst idea in the world, apart from of course the formation of the Police in the first place.

I can't think of a single band I'd want to see reform. Bands form for reasons and split up for reasons, and those reasons are usually good ones.

Tom, Friday, 2 March 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Reunions in general are just such a bad idea. Even at best, they are usually awkward and embarassing to watch.

A band can create a sort of alchemy that produces wonderful music -- at the right moment; once the moment has passed, it can't be replicated by putting the band back together again.

Nicole, Friday, 2 March 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Spacemen3.

I don't even want them to make any music. I just want to see the fur fly as Jason and Sonic slag each other off, and then are reduced to a hair-pulling competition in which they howl "over-produced control freak prog rock sell out!" and "indie snob who sits in his room making records for indie snobs to sit in their rooms to!" at each other until the cows come home.

Tra la la la laaaa...

Wanna hear something kinda funny? I know someone who works with Frankie Bello's wife. She's a graphic designer now. Frankie was the bass player for Anthrax, in case you forgot. Anyway, when he found out, he was like, "Hey, that's so cool. I used to love Among The Living" and she was totally embarrassed and asked him not to tell anyone at work.

that's kind of sad. Just about a month ago, I downloaded the entire Among The Living CD from Napster and some of State of Euphoria and I'll be damned if that shit doesn't severely rock. There was simply nothing like it before or after, by way of sheer, catchy fun really well produced.

Also, that band was positive, if you think about it. Always preaching about giving people respect and saying no to drugs. Kinda weird to think today that they were even considered "cool" when they're basically being worshipped by a bunch of pot-smoking bufords.

Reunion? I would like to see... Butthole Surfers LIVE again. Holy shit, what an amazing show. You know, they actually are broken up, with little hubbub. Well, except now they're suing Touch and Go records.

Reunions are a terrible idea...."Heroooooinn-yeah-baby-herereroooin"..

Michael Bourke, Friday, 2 March 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

We can't bring anyone back from the dead, but we CAN pretend the broken up band haven't gone cobblers? That's just a contradictory rule, I think ;)

I would like a Police reunion so I can go to the concert and boo, loudly. But only if the tickets were free.

Ally, Friday, 2 March 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The Sundays. I think they should dissolve their marriage and reignite their musical career.

The Cure. They have been split up for at least 3 months now. It's unbearable.

Belle & Sebastian.

the pinefox, Saturday, 3 March 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

the police will never get back together, since they hate each other and seem to make money fine on their own.

I'd have to go with the Pixies.

brent d., Saturday, 3 March 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

well it's been almost two weeks since the announcement - so i believe it's high time royal trux stopped fucking with us and got back together. if drag city is being it's usual irritatng self and making it all up to "play with the conventions of publicity and hype" then they can die in a pitful of snakes.

joel, Sunday, 4 March 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hey, I think that Belle & Sebastian reunion might just happen after all.

the pinefox, Sunday, 10 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Tommy Lee back in Motley Crue! Although Vince Neil might call the cops on him again.

I don't even want them to make any music
I think I'll search and remind Kate of that statement right about now my funk soul brothers.
Otherwise, while I do believe bands get to gether and break apart for a reason, I would love, LOVE to see Hüsker Dü and Eric's Trip get back for one more money making tour. Oh wait Eric's trip did that already, never mind maybe just to see Bob and Grant Kiss and makeup would be enough.
It's Just like 1996 all over again! Julie Doiron, Opera House 2001.

DEVO

geeta, Wednesday, 17 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The only future reunion that will interest me is one where all band members have died and been reanimated. Then we're cooking with gas.

Mark, Wednesday, 17 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

They should start planning the Beatles one now, then.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 18 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Momus.

I completely don't remember making that ilm post. Is it a joke about the dawn of ile?

mark s, Thursday, 18 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I think Syd Barrett should reunite.

dan, Thursday, 18 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The Smiths. But they should continue to all hate each other, and be encouraged to settle their differences with fist fights during concerts.

Judd Nelson, Thursday, 18 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

mark: it is a bad sign when you need others to interpret your jokes for you.

Walt Mink!

Dan Perry, Friday, 19 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Walt Mink again! Somebody will explain this band to me one day. I heard the albums at the time and thought nothing of them.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 19 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It's all about _Miss Happiness_, specifically "Miss Happiness", their cover of "Pink Moon", "Croton-Hormon", and "Factory".

Ah, back in the days when I was indie...

Dan Perry, Friday, 19 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Whats this nonsense about the original line-up of Pink Floyd reuniting and playing at the next Glastonbury? By "original" do they mean "Original-Original"? Whouldn't that mean they have to mount an expedition to South Wonderland and coax Syd Barrett out of the treacle tree and into some rockstar clothes (read: clothes not made out of treacle tree leaves?)

Lord Custos II, Friday, 19 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

the fat boys

bob snoom, Saturday, 20 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Well, now that Mission of Burma have proved that taking 20 years off can be just the thing for a band at the height of its powers, I call for the immediate reunions of Liliput, the Enemy, and the Homosexuals.

Also, I would sacrifice much to see Unrest play together just one more time. Sob.

Douglas, Saturday, 20 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Talking Heads and Galaxie 500 to thread.

cdwill, Thursday, 6 January 2005 18:22 (twenty years ago)

malkmus seems to think pavement is going to reunite sometime.

peter smith (plsmith), Thursday, 6 January 2005 18:24 (twenty years ago)

The Royal Crescent Mob did a mini reunion a few weeks ago - they started their career as the band for Ray Fuller's Bluesrockers.. Ray just played an anniversary gig & the Mob did a few of their own songs.. hopefully that means they'll succumb to the pressure to do it again.

dave225 (Dave225), Thursday, 6 January 2005 18:29 (twenty years ago)

Really? I'd get on that bus!

Ken L (Ken L), Thursday, 6 January 2005 18:32 (twenty years ago)

The reunion law states that as the years pass, the probablility of any band reforming approaches 1 monotonically.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Thursday, 6 January 2005 18:33 (twenty years ago)

Pavement reunion's still a solo album or two away, I would guess. Reunions happen when former members' other musical projects have totally failed/dried up (yeah, when's that second Preston School of Industry album comin out...)

I can't stand most of Malkies' solo output but a Pavement reunion would probably be even more depressing...

Shakey Mo Collier, Thursday, 6 January 2005 18:37 (twenty years ago)

Or when they have a near death experience, like Bryan Ferry in that plane in Nigeria.

Royal Crescent Mob
I always loved the fact that the RCM were funky white boys without any of that Chili Peppers s0x on the c0x machismo, which seems like a relic of a different age, like those pretend old school rappers they used to have on SNL rhyming about hopscotch.

Ken L (Ken L), Thursday, 6 January 2005 18:39 (twenty years ago)

So would they, evidently.

The Mad Puffin, Thursday, 6 January 2005 18:49 (twenty years ago)
