Wouldnt have been my choice but it's still a good choice in my opinion. But like most people I've spent more time with the ep than the album.

That's the Mercury -- this is the American equivalent, inspired by said award.

I saw TVOR (opening for ESG) about a year ago, found em deathly dull.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 20:23 (twenty-one years ago)

i saw then recently and thought they were fantastic.

actually this is surprising, considerating that Desperate Youth was released on Touch & Go and is therefore the only album out of all the finalists that the majors don't have a share in. right?

bill neil (inabillity), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 01:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I think they deserve the award for the first 30 seconds of "Staring at the Sun" alone. I love those creepy harmonies and that fuzzy buzz that kicks in. Can't get enough, a hundred listens later.

I have a strong and continuing appreciation for them in that they are giving Apollo Heights more exposure. But this essentially means that I hold them on the same level of Superchunk for helping to give folks like David Kilgour more exposure. ;-) Otherwisezzzzzz...

who is tv on the radio? 'staring that the sun'? ultra vivid scene cover?

keith m (keithmcl), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 04:11 (twenty-one years ago)

No, not a cover. Just a shared song title.
