not siegel, tho my sympathy goes out to his situation. liustebn, i juswt downloaded 2 of beans' latest albums (shockl city mavrick & tomorrow right now) and like 5or6 months ago i bought that other disk (now soon someday) and i find it all totally awesome, INCLUDING the warpbitten instrumental tracks, which sometimes border on endearing. his flow is so progressive and tonal like dancehalll, but more applespeak apple-j whatever you pressed in simpletext like o-u-t-k-a-s-t, and i ev en find the acapella weed-->coke-->crack thing totally charming on tomorrow right now. i love beans so much!! what happened to the rest of apc, esp that guy who did "shark infested water" on tragic epilogue.

i mostly like serious dark emcees like some of 50's shit and soulja slim, but beans acts so dark and serious like he read a lot of bukowski and takes himself real seriously. i love him so much but i don't know how to praiose him!! please heklp me!

I hear he's great live. And not serious at all.

accidentally double posted this. i could totally picture him being nice and playful live

Apparently he plays his tracks off a boombox and does funny dances.

what a weirdo

P$, Tuesday, 16 November 2004 20:47 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, he just plugs in his disc-man into the system and starts rapping to the backing track. it's pretty odd because he did some crazy instrumentation on the last anti-pop consortium tour...

seems like rapping takes up too much effort when he performs - it doesn't seems like being serious or not has much to do with it.

I saw him open up for the rapture. He was sitting at the bar with his boombox and all of the sudden he just walked on stage, plugged it in, and started going!

i saw him open for someone once, maybe manitoba or something unlikely like that. very impressive. im not a big fan of the first cd but maybe ill check out this new one.

OK, but back to the topic. he's not one of the best 50 MCs in the world. But your favourite...that's different.

The rest of APC are just releasing 12"s and tooling around doing whatever.

saayid and priest are now airborne audio. saw them last month and they reaffirmed my faith in live hip hop. looked like a noise band rocking a tabletop scattered with synths, drum machines, mics, and effects. rhymes-wise they were a lot more linear than apc. lotsa hood tales and junkie woes.

What label are they on? Have they released anything? (I always like the two of them better than Beans to be honest.)

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 22:38 (twenty-one years ago)

they have an e.p. from maybe a year ago on sound-ink i believe though i don't think it was anywhere near as good as the new stuff they played. they kept shouting about a "mixtape in november" and an album by the end of the year.

d. mitha (ykeo), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 23:01 (twenty-one years ago)

They don't seem to have a webpage. :( MIXTAPE IN NOVEMBER sounds like a campaign promise.

i guess they're hopping the g-unit / diplomats bandwagon but somehow i don't think i'll find airborne audio on canal or 125th anytime soon.

five years pass...

"only" is a pretty great free-jazz/electro record, but it's not hardly even hip hop or rap really.
