"In addition to his hosting duties at the second annual Spike TV Video Game Awards, Snoop Dogg will be performing with the remaining members of the Doors for a rendition of the band's classic track "Riders on the Storm." Somewhat more conventional performances will be provided by Sum 41 and Ludacris. The list of nominees for the show was topped by "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas," "Halo 2" and "Half-Life 2," which took five nods each. The show will be broadcast live from Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, on December 14 at 9 p.m. ET. ..."

"...who will be duetting on Elton John and Kiki Dee's 'Don't Go Breaking My Heart.'"

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 17:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Hahaha wow how much better would the Doors have been if Snoop had turn all their songs.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 17:38 (twenty-one years ago)

at first when I read that part I thought they meant that Sum 41 and Luda would also be performing with the Doors.

TS: Snoop vs. Jay-Z

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 17:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd take either of them over Jim Morrison, but I'd say Snoop's laid back flow would go better over "The End" or "The Unknown Soldier" than Jay-Z's.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 17:42 (twenty-one years ago)

This is the coolest thing ever (today).

Huk-L, Wednesday, 17 November 2004 17:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm confused as to why Ludacris performing with the Doors is less ridiculous than Snoop.

Nick H (Nick H), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 17:44 (twenty-one years ago)

he doesn't talk as funny

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 17:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Sum 41 is PERFORMING with Ludacris! Neither is performing with the Doors.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 17:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Or maybe Sum 41 and Ludacris are performing individually. Either way neither is performing with the Doors.

"Like a Dogg without a bone, an actor out on loan ..."

Joseph McCombs (Joseph McCombs), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 17:48 (twenty-one years ago)

"After "Riders on the Storm," The Doors will flip the script and launch into Snoop's "Ain't No Fun (If The Homies Can't Have None"), where Astbury will belt out the lines "'Cause you gave me all your pussy / and you even licked my balls" over Manzarek's tinkling organ lines, while Snoop leads the crowd in a "throw your hands in the air" type back-and-forth..."

Snoop > Ian Astbury > Scott Stapp

I kinda want this to be on his tombstone. Either that or Snoop > Tom Green > Jim Breuer

donut christ (donut), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 20:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Half-Life 2 > Halo 2 > GTA: San Andreas

Snoop only appears in one of these games. Ergo, Halo 2 is bollocks.

noodle vague (noodle vague), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 20:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Snoop's tombstone should say "Paid The Cost To Be The Boss" (esp. since the stencils all over SF for that album made it look like indeed Snoop had DIED.)

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 20:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Rizzles on the stizzle
Rizzles on the stizzle

Gotta love your man, yizzle

Half-Life 2 > Halo 2 > GTA: San Andreas
-- W i l l (lolomgwt...), November 17th, 2004.

I played Halo once. Completely, utterly generic. Yet another game where you blow up aliens with photon guns or something. Boring.

Still not funny. Silver lining: promotion of thread back up list will allow new generation of readers to recognize donut's genius.

My brain just imploded.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 18 November 2004 15:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Is Densmore involved? He was boycotting the Ian Astbury Doors (and what a disheartening venture that is/was).

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 18 November 2004 15:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Even five minutes later, I remain convinced that this has to be a joke.

Raymond Cummings (Raymond Cummings), Thursday, 18 November 2004 15:57 (twenty-one years ago)

I think it was Ray Manzarek's doing because he recognized that Snoop was just as great a poet as Jim. When of course, poetry-wise

Snoop > Jim.

Is it “actor out alone” or “actor out on loan?”

I always thought it was "an actor all alone" but I guess it is "out on loan"
