JoB (JoB), Thursday, 18 November 2004 00:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I saw a guy at an open mic use the breakdown from the end of Metallica's One as his beat. It was sick. Has any commercial artist ever done this?

Nelly feat. Justin Timberlake - Work It (Jason Nevins remix)

m1cc1o, Thursday, 18 November 2004 01:51 (twenty-one years ago)

actually it looks like you can get the Nevins remix on the CD single for the album. a billboard article I just read said it was only released promotionally. It interpolates AC/DC's "Back In Black" and I've heard it twice on the radio. Kicks so much ass.

miccio (miccio), Thursday, 18 November 2004 01:56 (twenty-one years ago)

ok actually the commercially available version is a DIFFERENT Nevins remix. The AC/DC one is still unauthorized and just getting a lot of radio play. I want a copy now!

miccio (miccio), Thursday, 18 November 2004 01:58 (twenty-one years ago)

total confusion - original concept

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Thursday, 18 November 2004 02:00 (twenty-one years ago)

forgot I started a thread about this track, it's been out since June at least! Does nobody on ILX listen to the radio? Shit, I'm in CENTRAL PA.

Does Nelly have a new song out that samples "Back In Black"?

miccio (miccio), Thursday, 18 November 2004 02:03 (twenty-one years ago)

great call on "Channel Zero," Fritz.

miccio (miccio), Thursday, 18 November 2004 02:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Chubb Rock, "Daddy's Home"

MC Transmaniacon (natepatrin), Thursday, 18 November 2004 03:41 (twenty-one years ago)

If we're gonna count "You Shook Me All Night Long" then I guess I'll nominate Saul Williams' "Grippo." I'm not sure I'd qualify his vocal as rap, but the track is about hip-hop and that Chrome sample is pretty metal.

miccio (miccio), Thursday, 18 November 2004 03:48 (twenty-one years ago)

geto boys - fuck 'em.

bulbs (bulbs), Thursday, 18 November 2004 03:51 (twenty-one years ago)

D12 - Fight Music

M Carty (mj_c), Thursday, 18 November 2004 05:58 (twenty-one years ago)

aka Let's pretend it's 1988!

Public Enemy - "She Watch Channel Zero" (Slayer samples)
Public Enemy - "Sophisticated Bitch" (more black misogyny)
Slayer & Ice T - "Disorder"
S.O.D. - "March of the S.O.D." / "Sargeant D"
Ice T - "Rhyme Pays" (samples "War Pigs")
Ice T - "Midnight" (samples "Black Sabbath")
Jungle Brothers...the track based on Sabbath's "Behind the Wall of Sleep"

aka Let's read Chapter XII in Sound of the Beast!

Ian Christe (Ian Christe), Thursday, 18 November 2004 06:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh ------> Lone Rager, "Metal Rap"

...the braintrust behind Metallica, Manowar, Testament, Anthrax, and Overkill speaks!

Ian Christe (Ian Christe), Thursday, 18 November 2004 06:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Mentioned on other threads, but "The C.I.A. Is Trying to Kill Me" by Non Phixion (remix w/Deftones and Fear Factory).

"Chasing the Dragon" from the last Ill Bill record.

Also: "Just Another Victim" by House of Pain + Helmet from the Judgement Night soundtrack. I'm goin' out like DeNiro in Taxi Driver!

ng, Thursday, 18 November 2004 06:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Immortal - Tyrants (admittedly a bit of a push calling this metal rap, but he's not exactly singing).
Isn't there an Ozzy/Busta Rhymes version of Iron Man too?
