Tonight on Damage Control, which is a community radio station in Houston, they had cats from the Screwd Up Click on the show, and they did tribute to DJ Screw. Serg, who blogs on We Eat So Many Shrimp along with me and a couple other guys, recorded the entire show and uploaded the mp3. If you wait to listen til the end, they give a shoutout to the shrimp. Also, you folks should listen to Damage control regularly, its on every wednesday from 12-3AM central time and they play tons of great houston hip-hop.
Get the mp3 of the show here:

Did anyone give it a listen?

djdee2005 (djdee2005), Thursday, 18 November 2004 18:45 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah i was listening last night. shit was pretty lame, unfortunately. i tuned in about half an hour after it started and they were playing some mix of biggie's warning with a big moe (or big t??) track but then they sort of fucked it up by playing too much new shit and subpar old stuff. and was yungstar the only s.u.c. guy in the house? yungstar was the best they could do? i mean, shit, it's not like a lot of those s.u.c. cats are really busy.

i thought big baby's set was cool. i'd never actually heard him. he only sells his tapes out of the screw shop and doesn't mix a lot of non houston underground stuff. he's tight, though. i suspected that he was getting put on mostly because he was related to screw and was willing to be the keep it real dj to hold up as an example against watts style guys.

didn't there used to be another rap show on after damage control?

I know they were hoping ESG would come through but I guess that didn't happen. I've only been listening to damage control for a couple months now so I don't know but I'll ask Serg, he actually knows Matt.

I thought the most annoying part was how he kept having to do fundraising in between songs. But I guess there's nothing they can do about that.

djdee2005 (djdee2005), Thursday, 18 November 2004 19:12 (twenty-one years ago)

he seemed really discouraged at the end.

matt posted on ilm a couple times. he took those soulja slim funeral pictures i posted, the ones that were in murder dog. and he took the dizzee rascal vs. chamillionaire picture

Ahh yeah those pictures are great! Matt said on the air that its been nearly a year since Soulja Slim died. Time flies.

thanks for the mp3, i think i'm starting to really like this screwed stuff. didn't really get into it before.

yeah esg and c-note were suppose to roll through, I guess esg actually confirmed but flaked. You never know with them dudes. People are always telling Matt they'll roll through and never do.

the show that was after damage control was Late Night Snacks, I'm assuming its been canceled cause its not listed on KPFT's site. It use to be every other week so there is a possiblity it may be on next week.

as for the fundraising, yeah it gets a little annoying but they have to do it to stay on the air. I think he usually manages to get more money, I forget how much their goal was last time.

I have like 9 of the shows saved of my computer, I kind of wish I had some of the older ones but I lost those when my computer took a shit a few years back. I had that whole bun b and david banner show from like 3 or 4 years ago and also the show with Al Kapone.

That sounds great!

I still have the freestyle, I should upload that but man the interview with the two of them was great, banner was just talking shit about nyc and how they hate on the south. What was cute is that like a year after that he just blew the fuck up.

My girlfriend still have a Penalty Records mug with crooked lettaz and their whole roster on it. Its black but when you fill the glass with hot water it shows the names. It's so fucking futuristic.

Haha that sounds dope! Serg when is yr girlfriend going to be on the show?

sorry for the newbie question, but what is the first track played in the mix linked to above? that synth line is killer.
