Could anyone help me find a program to convert my stupid .m4a or .aiff files into mp3s? Granted, this is my sister's computer, and I shall be free of Macintosh hell soon, but I want to put it to good use by ripping music for my friends.

Thanks.

under "Advanced" in iTunes, there's a "Convert Selection to Mp3" option

Yes - but make sure you have changed your iTunes Import prefs to mp3, or else that option will read 'convert selection to AAC'.

And the moral of the story is, stick with the Mac.

"Macintosh hell"? What, you prefer viruses, system crashes, ugly interfaces, unoriginality?
The fact they you had to even ask the question just proves you're a Windows user.

Can we not get into the whole Mac versus Windows pissing contest? They're computers, for fuck's sake. I use both platforms regularly. Windows XP is what Windows should've been all along. Ditto Panther for Mac - it addresses the serious problems wth multi-tasking that OS 9 had.

ALL computers have the ability to work flawlessly OR fuck up. Let's leave it at that.
