i'm positive they've taken that from a 70's or 80's song (i thought billy ocean, but seems not). i'm sorry, i've posted on another thread but a) being drunk, b) frustrated by the holes in my memory, i REALLY need to find the answer otherwise i will have to roam the web all night long (it's 2.30 am in paris)... we don't want that to happen (especially because i'm almost out of red wine and my girlfriend is begining to play some dire straits on vh1...and now green day...god help me !!).

another outkast affiliated track did this to me; killer mike's 'a.d.i.d.a.s.' reminds me a lot of roses are free by ween but i couldnt figure it out for a while!

it seems insane to me that no one noticed that, as the first time i heard the track it was obvious to me that it was a sample (but i may be wrong or some "horla" prowling...).

holy shit, you're right. not really a sample or even a direct quote, but it's the same goddamn notes, just slightly rearranged and lengthened by one beat. (or one dipthong, really.) hot damn!

yeah, this really sounds similar ! (though i'm not sure that's what i had in mind. anyway, thanks, it's a good one).
that said, i don't like this outkast' song. can't see why it's a single (what's the point of releasing a single from these albums now, anyway !!?).
