- Just spotted an advertisement for the new Tupac album of -- wait for it -- unreleased material (produced by Eminem, as if i should be impressed by that), and misread that title as...

LOYAL TO THE GNOME

..turns out it's actually Game, not Gnome, but had it actually been Loyal to the Gnome, I may have actually bought it.

your turn.

The sad realization that Ron Artest has probably increased his name recognition and therefore potential album sales over this weekend.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Monday, 22 November 2004 16:27 (twenty-one years ago)

- Apparently, Paul McCartney is scheduled to be the Superbowl half-time entertainment this next time. A return to playing it safe.

Unless there is a cod-piece malfunction.

or he lights up a fat one on stage...

Jack Battery-Pack (Jack Battery-Pack), Monday, 22 November 2004 17:04 (twenty-one years ago)

-- This Jimmy Chamberlin solo record sounds like some combination of Bitches Brew/Weather Report/Tortoise in a lot of spots.

-- Thanksgiving really IS just three days off. Woooooooooooo!

Raymond Cummings (Raymond Cummings), Monday, 22 November 2004 17:05 (twenty-one years ago)

What would make me really really happy is if, after smoking said fat one on stage, Paul magnanimously invited Yoko up onto the stage to sing "Every Man Has a Man Who Loves Him / Every Woman Has a Woman Who Loves Her."

- Having spent most of yesterday remixing my friend's record, I am now tempted to start over from scratch.

- I'm going to purge a HUGE chunk of my CD collection, keeping only the stuff I listen to regularly while MP3ing a bunch of favourite tracks.

- Dug out Platinum Blonde's Alien Shores over the weekend. If you're Canuck and over 25, you'll remember these guys. They were an utterly unholy hybrid of new wave, glam, and cock-rock, and I fucking worshipped them as a wee'un. Anyway, I got three songs into the thing and thought "Hmmm. ALL the beats on this record are quite obviously programmed. Did the drummer show up to the session, play each drum once into a sampler, and then bugger off?" Just how many superfluous drummers were there in the mid-80s???

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Monday, 22 November 2004 19:52 (twenty-one years ago)

- Apparently there's a "tenth anniversary" edition of Nine Inch Nails' The Downward Spiral on its way. Was the world crying out for this?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 22 November 2004 19:54 (twenty-one years ago)

There's also a "tenth anninversary" edition of the Manic Street Preachers The Holy Bible out on Dec 6th. 2CDs and a DVD. Hmmm...

Ben Dot (1977), Monday, 22 November 2004 19:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Where's the "tenth anniversary" edition of Release by Cop Shoot Cop? Where's the "tenth anniversary" edition of Pandemonium by Killing Joke? Where's the "tenth anniversary" edition of Watusi by the Wedding Present? etc. etc. etc.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 22 November 2004 20:00 (twenty-one years ago)

just heard Neil Young's "Revolution Blues" and realized it's the most Dylan-like song of his I can think of.

john'n'chicago, Monday, 22 November 2004 20:22 (twenty-one years ago)

And doesn't it make you feel better?

(Sorry, couldn't resist.)

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Monday, 22 November 2004 21:55 (twenty-one years ago)

This year, when asked to lead the family in an appropriate Thanksgiving hymn, I'm going to try "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)"

mottdeterre (mottdeterre), Monday, 22 November 2004 21:59 (twenty-one years ago)

- st. augustine is taking up most of the room in the back of my head.
- i get to listen to the nirvana box tonight and get fucked up, which rules. totally rules.

or he lights up a fat one on stage...

I read this as "or he lights up a fart on stage". I'd much rather see McCartney do that at half-time.
