Many who once overlooked the bravery of the New York police and fire
departments now see them in a new light. Jay-Z, who has had his share
of run-ins with the cops, is no exception. "The policemen, they're
always right there, and they're always in your face. Then something
like this happens and you see the real work that they do and you
really have a whole different respect for them," he said. "Before, we
only saw one thing in the hip-hop community because nothing like this
has ever happened. So when you see them actually doing good for
people and actually helping people out, you have to respect that."
Jay-Z performed "Izzo (H.O.V.A.)" early in the show, the tune's "not
guilty" line ringing out ironically less than a week after the rapper
pleaded guilty to a stabbing charge in New York. 23/10/01

You have not defeated the U.S. 29/11/01 Mystikal disses Bin Laden
in his new video / current single, Bouncin' Back, with the gruff one
screaming on Osama bin Laden but keeping the party vibe going. "Just
something positive," he said. "Something that's not gonna add to the
all the bad stuff that's happening. I tried to keep it current,
involve anthrax and all that stuff in there... 18/12/01
