Bubble Pop Electric on Gwen Stefani's solo album is co-written by André 3000 and Seven, presumably his seven-year-old son with Erykah Badu. Any other infants, pets, grandmothers ever been listed in songwriting or production credits?

China Kantner got a songwriting credit at age 5 or thereabouts on the Jefferson Starship's "Don't Let It Rain," if memory serves.

And James Brown gave his daughters the songwriting credit on "Get Up Offa That Thing" and a few other songs in the mid '70s. Bad move on his part.

Not exactly on topic, but on his '68 "Song Cycle" LP, Van Dyke Parks followed a song called "Public Domain" and credited to himself, with a song called "Van Dyke Parks" credited to "public domain".

Along the lines of the songwriting team of James Brown-and-daughter, there is also that creepy Serge and Charlotte Gainsbourg duet "Lemon Incest."

Anyone heard Eyeball Skeleton?

Amy Rigby's daughter (an acquaintance of mine) has appeared on her records if I remember correctly...not with songwriting credits but with instrumentation credits.

I remember an especially vile edition of the Simon Bates show which was using BBC airtime to promote Eddie Murphy's album. There was a track based around his child saying "yeah", about which Eddie spoke at length. I mention this to get this out of my head and onto my keyboard, where I may talk about it some more.

My band The Abstainers credited a cat called Kate for the noises we got putting the mike on her belly and playing zithers over it. I hope the track isn't as annoying as that makes it sound.

And didn't Nat King Cole credit his daughter, even after he was like dead?

Tori Amos's daughter Natashya is credited as the 'executive producer' of her concept covers album Strange Little Girls. Natashya was about 2 or 3 at the time.

The Lex (The Lex), Saturday, 27 November 2004 14:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Any other ... pets... been listed in songwriting or production credits?

Steve Albini's cat, Fluss, has a few credits to his name.
