so,so very classic indeed.

kevin says relax (daddy warbuxx), Sunday, 28 November 2004 06:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I like the original more. But it's cool.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Sunday, 28 November 2004 06:59 (twenty-one years ago)

The remix is amazing and gorgeous, almost as good as the original.

The Lex (The Lex), Sunday, 28 November 2004 09:43 (twenty-one years ago)

With all those bells it's amost a christmas single.

Siegbran (eofor), Sunday, 28 November 2004 13:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't much like the original. Whereas the remix is amazing.

djdee2005 (djdee2005), Sunday, 28 November 2004 13:52 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah the remix blows the original away.

Hari Ashurst (Toaster), Sunday, 28 November 2004 13:53 (twenty-one years ago)

It's too sweet and polite. With that bassline and synth riff, it's like an even softer New Order or U2 backing track. The original is great because it's so brazen and bitchy. All the sharp edges are rounded off Gwen's voice. The "tick tock"s and "What you waiting for?"s don't nag you at all in this. The panting is less interesting because it sounds more typically pretty-girly-sexy. Did he even leave in "Take a chance, you stupid ho"? If he did I didn't even notice.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Sunday, 28 November 2004 18:26 (twenty-one years ago)

"...rounded off Gwen's voice [in the remix]."

sundar subramanian (sundar), Sunday, 28 November 2004 18:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I agree with Sundar, a little bit. It's why I think both versions are great in their own way.

Sanjay McDougal (jaymc), Sunday, 28 November 2004 18:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think the original has nearly the power of the remix simply for the lack of that huge synth hook. I don't think the original had much in the way of erm "edges" to speak of, but most of all was definitively lacking in the musical hook dept. which is why the remix makes up for it so perfectly.

djdee2005 (djdee2005), Sunday, 28 November 2004 18:53 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah i agree with Djdee

also, those sharp edges in Gwens voice sounded horrible to me, like somebody had over auto-tuned her voice. And its a good thing he removed the 'Take a chance' you stupid ho.

Hari Ashurst (Toaster), Sunday, 28 November 2004 18:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Isn't that the synth hook of Womack & Womack "Teardrops"?

Siegbran (eofor), Sunday, 28 November 2004 19:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Why not just buy a New Order record? You won't have to deal with anything from the Gwen Stefani song.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Sunday, 28 November 2004 22:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Huh? I like Gwen's part, I just wish it had a better musical hook. And if I measured everything by the New Order standard, I wouldn't be listening to much music.

djdee2005 (djdee2005), Sunday, 28 November 2004 22:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I guess I was responding more to Hari's post.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Sunday, 28 November 2004 23:06 (twenty-one years ago)

What because if you remove the horrible auto-tuned edges to the vocals and take away the line "take a chance you stupid ho" then its a new order record?

Yeah, you're right.

Hari Ashurst (Toaster), Sunday, 28 November 2004 23:09 (twenty-one years ago)

That "Take a chance, you stupid ho" is such a fucking awful lyric.

Affectian (Affectian), Sunday, 28 November 2004 23:19 (twenty-one years ago)

no way. no fucking way.

Frankenstein On Ice (blueski), Sunday, 28 November 2004 23:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I like that part! But i still like the remix better.

djdee2005 (djdee2005), Monday, 29 November 2004 00:11 (twenty-one years ago)

What because if you remove the horrible auto-tuned edges to the vocals and take away the line "take a chance you stupid ho" then its a new order record?

Throw in a cheesy bassline and synth riff and you get pretty close.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Monday, 29 November 2004 09:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Right now, I am of the opinion that the people objecting to that line are crying little pantywaists who still wet the bed.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 29 November 2004 16:07 (twenty-one years ago)

new order fans?

artdamages (artdamages), Monday, 29 November 2004 17:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I am still in love with her.

adam... (nordicskilla), Monday, 29 November 2004 17:07 (twenty-one years ago)

what are you waiting for?

artdamages (artdamages), Monday, 29 November 2004 17:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Hahaha Chris!

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 29 November 2004 17:13 (twenty-one years ago)

i may be more in love with Jacques

Frankenstein On Ice (blueski), Monday, 29 November 2004 17:19 (twenty-one years ago)

what are you waiting for?

The Ghost of Dan Perry channelling artdamages (Dan Perry), Monday, 29 November 2004 17:21 (twenty-one years ago)

take a chance you stupid ho!

The Lex (The Lex), Monday, 29 November 2004 17:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Right now, I am of the opinion that the people who like that line are the same kind of people who say "COOL!" really loudly.

Affectian (Affectian), Monday, 29 November 2004 19:31 (twenty-one years ago)

WE ARE BOTH RIGHT!

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 29 November 2004 19:41 (twenty-one years ago)

haha
