Todd and Pat from US Maple were in a band called The Beatles.
There was a "Pulp" in the Chicago suburban alternative cover band circuit about five years ago who were apparently unaware that the name was already taken by a band who probably should have been part of their ourve.
And it would seem that no local rock scene can go on for very long without a band called "Soylent Green".

Then the sixties bunch, a year or so later, did a cover of "lithium". Just coz they were allowed to, I guess.

There's another band called the Libertines, who released an album in the late 80's I think. Possibly Canadian? Someone I know has this album but I've not heard it and it seems pretty difficult to google them, obviously.

Paddlefoot: Terrific mid-'90s indie-folk band from San Francisco and hideous funk-metal monstrosity from somewhere else. Bought the latter's by mistake in the naive hope that the former had actually put out something new. Horror ensued.

Ivy - There was one on Minty Fresh and one on Sarah Records. The latter is infinitely better than the former.

Wait, there were two Dubstars?

There used to be a boyband here in Canada called Indecision. When an American hardcore punk band with the same name came calling, the Canuck Indecision quickly became Souldecision, which is surely the most seamless legality-induced name change ever.

There was another Utopia other than Todd Rundgren's lot. Apparently they were a splinter from Amon Duul II, and recorded one album in 1973.

There was also another 'The Eagles', a mainly instrumental rock 'n' roll band from Bristol active in the early 1960s.

avery keen-gardner (avery keen-gardner), Sunday, 5 November 2006 23:06 (nineteen years ago)

Screaming Trees - one was Mark Lanegan's band, and the other was a British synthpop duo who released an album in 1987 and ended up changing their name to Success. I'm pretty sure both bands were named after a distortion pedal, i.e.

sixteen years pass...

I have an album by 90s Athens GA band Lava Love, produced by Mitch Easter. Fun perky pop, singer could really sing.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFTj9peFTFQ

I discovered today there is a band Lavalove (without a space.) Singer really cannot sing.
