...
OK, I left out a lot. If you were expecting a Living In Oblivion Vol. 641, a Omigod, Like, Totally 80's!, or a It's Big, It Glows, and It's Hair Hair Hair, Little Girl So Rock Me Tonight type compilation, this isn't it.
I also left out a lot of stuff that pained me to let go.. especially the "bonus tracks" I planned, but I reached my limit just barely for the 700MB, and I'd hang myself before I did another double disc CDRGO again.
With requisite handful of minor cheats aside, here is 1983. Lots of synth bass that goes "MYOOT MYOOT MYOOT!", "VUUMT VUUMT VUUMT", and "ZHOUM ZHOUM ZHOUM!".
Make your own if you ain't satisfied! (Seriously, but if you must, go ahead and critique exclusions snobbily, like the usual characters will do anyway.)

(Thanks to Matos, Ned, and Nate. And especially Geeta for letting me do this. Electrify the boogie. KORITSB!)

Oh shit, gabb. I'm going to scrap this then. I'll repost a complete revision in the near future.
(ok, mistakes.. the Colourbox song is "Breakdown", not "Breakdance".. also the Yello album is You Gotta Say Yes To Another Excess, also Einstürzende Neubauten is supposed to have a umlaud over the first "u" as such but I misspelled the escape umlaud character, Yes Sir, I Will and The Hits/The B sides is supposed to be italicized, not enboldened, and other spelling mistakes)

Even though there's only one track from Scarface and you left out Loverboy, this kicked me in the skull with defness. BEST COVER EVER.

btw, This is the art and tracklisting. the actual CDR is not done yet... I still have to master, normalize, trim trailing silence, etc. so it all flows really well... so I won't have the CD-R ready to give away until another week or so.

You may remember the video, which involved lots of helicopters circling around the band as they mimed the track on a warehouse right outside of New York City, and one HOT scene where Daryll Hall bounces his quiffed head and crisply claps his hands while a light-bulb twirls over him, casting dramatic shadows.

aie, well, I thought they were just taking a break in between albums during '83.. i had no idea they had one amazing song released in 1983.. i did a lot of research to make sure i didn't miss anything, and no one seemed to care for the brilliance of this one H&O '83 tune, I guess... :/

* in Phase Five, I moved the Talking Heads song from the bottom to the second track, between Birdsongs Of The Mesozoic and B 52's.. hence Prince ends that phase now.
* I moved the This Kind Of Punishment track from Phase Seven to Phase Eight, and reordered the first half or so of Phase Eight
So, taking into account the accidental exclusion of the Go-Betweens track, here is the new Phase Seven and Phase Eight:
100 01 Cocteau Twins "Sugar Hiccup" (from Head Over Heels)101 02 Monsoon "Wings Of The Dawn (Hindi Version)" (from v/a : Indipop Music & Dance Compilasian)102 03 Styx "Mr. Roboto" (from Kilroy Was Here)103 04 Def Leppard "Photograph" (from Pyromania)104 05 Yes "Owner Of A Lonely Heart" (from 90125)105 06 The Police "Synchronicity II" (from Synchronicity)106 07 R.E.M. For now, just to say the absence of any Madness makes me sad. In 1983, Madness were everything to me, though it's possible that there weren't any new Madness things in 83 that were actually standout tracks.

I'll fully admit I did no research into the UK 1983 pop charts for this.. whereas I did for all the other years I did. So, yeah, this is the most excluding one I've done to date, as far as summing up one's British childhood of pop that year.. ah well.

Anyway, in brief: Removed the Violent Femmes track (it was from 1982), added Liquid Liquid and Daryl Hall & John Oates.. the new track listing in pic format.
Since the quiz caused such a ruckus before, I'm not going to repost it.
