It's great! It's all about how they only have one playoff win in the Super Bowl era, and how the only Pro Bowl QB they've had in 40 years was Greg landry, and how they are the only team to have a player actually DIE during a game, and how Super Bowl coaches and Hall of Fame running backs quit on the team mid-season... It's great! I think there is even a new remix out now that talks about Peyton Manning torching them for 6 td passes on national TV, great stuff.

wait - is this a new one or the one you sent me awhile back?

cinniblount (James Blount), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 23:23 (twenty-one years ago)

also keep your eyes out for the Monte Clark "Prayer" remix and the Darryl Rogers "what does a guy have to do to get fired around here" remix and the Favre-to-Sharpe "big buck" mix.

x-post, haha -- no JB I wuz just joking about all that stuff... (although i wouldn't put it past the detroit sports radio stations to have cooked something like that up.) Just venting a lil' frustration there!

How d'ya like Gates so far anyway? Thanks for the damaged goods!

Stormy Davis (diamond), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 23:26 (twenty-one years ago)

haha - i feel kinda bad about that (i swear i didn't know at the time!) if you want the lions d i think i'm about to drop it so watch the waiver wire!

Don't forget Wayne Fontes' Beyond Silverdome mix with the three-minute intro of nothing but Fontes' post-game stuttering.

Andy K (Andy K), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 23:44 (twenty-one years ago)

(nah, it's cool james, I was just joking. Brown will be back at some point, and I was DESPERATE for a back. Crumpler's pretty fine his own self -- I just hope he don't get fat and happy after signing that nice contract extension..)

Fontes all-time most-uttered phrase = "Our backs are against the wall"

oh, and while you're looking, try and find the '84 Tigers anthem, "Bless You Boys"

joey harrington, he's no jeff komlo.

I remember this becoming a Detroit theme song back when they went on a three- or four-game tear back in the 80s or something, but was there actually a distinct Lions version?

I try to love 'em, I really try, but GodDAMN the Lions are frustrating! Coolest uniforms in the league, best logo, Mel Farr, Barry, Marvin, Mooch -- none of it helps.

briania (briania), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 04:17 (twenty-one years ago)

jimmy "spiderman" allen did his own version after they went 4-0 to start 1979 season.

keith m (keithmcl), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 04:24 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, they're a lost cause. Man, I had such high hopes for Harrington too ... throw him on the scrap-heap with the other Lions top-10 first-round busts (Andre Ware anyone?)

briania, there was a version that had cornerback Jimmy "Spiderman" Allen rapping over the backing track -- since you're one of my favorite posters, I'll post this MP3 again. I just hope people don't hammer my account.

(and just as I compose this post, Sparty gets defeated by Duke. At least we still have the Pistons. I think.)

x-post

Chuck Long anyone?

Hey, thanks for the link. It takes a lot to let my Lions love bubble to the surface after all the pain. Maybe we can "dust" this off again when they turn the corner next year.

briania (briania), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 04:33 (twenty-one years ago)

even if they lose the rest of their games they won't get a shot at leinart(if he comes out) or orton. they'll probably draft some stiff like jason white, of course chuck long is his coordinator so that would be perfect.

they may have a shot this week though, the cardinals are going to start john navarre.

keith m (keithmcl), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 04:41 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, I had to crack up when I saw that Denny was gonna start Navarre at Ford Field. Should be a fun one. I predict Larry Fitzgerald catches 3 tds against Dre Bly.
