i got a Eartha Kitt best-of CD for my dad at xmas: he has all these fantastic old 50s EK LPs, but now he's bed-ridden and couldn't really work the LP player even if he wasn't so CD is where it's at, cuz he can work that.

(Tracer you just reminded me of my dad trying to explain to me aged 7-ish an off- colour Flanders&Swann joke: the one that sings has just in a song invited some ingenue up to see his stamp collection, and ad-libs as an aside, "all unperforated heh heh heh"; which i didn't get, understandably — i didn't get dad's explanation either, tho i now realise this is becase he bailed just at the point *he* realised that he was in a moment going to have to describe the physical diff between virginity and after, in a girl, and what causes this to occur… "Anyway it's a very dirty joke," he concluded lamely, w.a big grin on his face. Around same time he taught me the word "twat" and then said I was nevah evah to use it.)
