I'm delighted to see so many people buying "Dave Godin's Deep Soul Treasures Vol 4". I know the guy who wrote the sleevenotes! Apparently Dave Godin's left him his record collection in his will!

"How to Dismantle an Album I'm already Bored to Tears With by U2"

But why Alex? Why? Surely you can't have been expecting anything different!

True enough, Stew. I was not expecting greatness (hell, I was barely hopeful for mediocrity). I just picked it up out of some indefinable sense of obligation (time was when I was an ardent fan, though to these ears they haven't really made a full album worth spinning since, say, Achtung Baby). "Vertigo" now leaves me cold and clammy. I kinda don't mind "Love & Peace or Else" (so long as I tune out the lyrics), but I can't imagine a time when I'll feel like playing it again.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 15:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Alex in 'too much spare cash' scandal!

I caught a friend with the limited edition version of the U2 album last week!

Siouxsie and The Banshees - Downside Up box

WAH! (In that I don't have this yet.)

Most recent purchase was A John Waters Christmas but the promo mailings have been piling up as well. Thanks, LTM!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 16:11 (twenty-one years ago)

**but the promo mailings have been piling up as well. Thanks, LTM! **

Yes, yes I KNOW you get 'em free GRRRRRRRRRRR! (Actually I have got several of mine free through various Factory connections, but still...GRRRRR)

Siouxsie Box - I think it was due out here on this Monday, but HMV had it on Saturday. It is of course utterly perfect, and mad. Actually the late-ish stuff is amazing.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 16:25 (twenty-one years ago)

That it is. "Staring Back" and "Return" are two of my favorites.

John 2, Wednesday, 1 December 2004 16:56 (twenty-one years ago)

That's the point where you have to seek help.

Chingy - Jackpot
Missy Misdemeanor Elliott - Supa Dupa Fly
Mad Capsule Markets - Osc-Dis
some crazy Urban Outfitters compilation CD with Diplo, Lali Puna, Air, and a bunch of other crazy stuff on it

...all for $5 and some change (the Chingy is unfortunately the "clean" version, which I didn't realize until I got it home, but I probably would have got it anyway, since it was only $2, and the edits aren't too intrusive, and hey, what do y'know, it's pretty good)

o. nate (onate), Friday, 3 December 2004 04:27 (twenty-one years ago)
