Comphunting... Hardcore and Thrash pushed to the sidelines?

I've noticed something lately.
The last few times I've went into a record shop, looking for comps of 80s Thrash Metal or 80s Hardcore Punk, you can't actually find any anymore.
Metal: They'res plenty of 80's cockrock hair-metal comps and modern day cookie-monster-vocalled deathmetal comps (most of it from the Century Media co.) but no actual 80's Thrash Metal
Punk: They'res plenty of 77-79's british punk comps and a bunch of modern day cookie-cutter-Green-Day-Wannabe pop-punk comps (most of it from the Fat Wreck) but no actual 80's Hardcore Punk. Shit, theres barely any Oi! or Ska comps floating around anymore.

So, here's my questions...

Polite and Civilized Question: What comps covering these specfic genres are still in print and can be specially ordered?
Mean-Spirited and Judgmental Questions: Does anyone seriously LIKE the cookie-monster-vocal gargling better than 80s Thrash? Maybe I'm being an old fart, but at least Thrash was fun! As is there really that much of a market for NOFX and Pennywise? And does anybody -- who isn't on heavy medication -- think they are better than X or Black Flag or Circle Jerks?
Aaargh!

Anyhow.
I hand this all over to you to play with.

You definitely need to get the Rat Music For Rat People CD. Also look for New York Thrash and I believe there was a compilation called NY Hardcore with Sick Of It All, Breakdown, Youth Of Today, etc., etc. on CD.

Metal Blade issued a box set culled from its glory years not too long ago.

George Smith, Thursday, 2 December 2004 20:43 (twenty years ago)

Scratch that. You probably don't want it.

Had both Decline of Western Civ comps (though some whistleheaded fucknugget stole my Punk Years one.)
What was the title of the Metal Blade box?

The old Blackout Records comp Where The Wild Things Are will be reissued on 12/31/04, paired with their other comp, Our Own Way. NY hardcore - Breakdown, Gorilla Biscuits, Agnostic Front, Killing Time, etc., etc.

Those that think so shouldn't be allowed to own speakers.

Only available on vinyl (criminally) but my hardcore compilation remains Let Them Eat Jellybeans.

my favorite, I mean.

Incidentally, I misread the first word in this thread's question as, phonetically, COMFUNTING.

20th Anniversary

Not So Quiet on the Western Front and the Flipside comps are also quite good.

Those that think [NOFX > Circle Jerks] shouldn't be allowed to own speakers.
Granted, for the record, I don't hate NOFX and Pennywise, I just don't love them anywhere near as much as all these Hot Topic comps do.

Incidentally, I misread the first word in this thread's question as, phonetically, COMFUNTING.
Makes it seem vaguely sordid, doesn't it?
