Li'l Jon: Crunk Juice

I ain't gonna bother lookin up the old thread about this with the crappy Voice reviews and all... BUT, I bought this album on Saturday pretty much just out of curiosity. Heard some of the singles, seemed entertaining. This thing is WAAAY too long. And very repetitive and not quite as hyper/dense as I was hoping. It's like 2 Live Crew plus Onyx. There are some great tunes on here that work, a bazillion fairly entertaining guest spots and I do love Li'l Jon's cartoonish persona, but this is pretty vapid stuff. I actually think the second half works better than the first. And E-40 gets the best "bumper" track - he brightens any album foshiggadale!

Did you get the version with the bonus disc, Shakey? That's better and much more manageable than the original record IMO.

nah I was feelin cheap so I got a used copy, which is just one disc. is the bonus disc remixes...?

Yeah, it's dancehall and reggaeton and BAD BRAINS remixes of various album tracks plus his "Lean Back" and "Let's Go" remixes.

mmm yeah, I did want the Bad Brains stuff, was wondering where that was. oh well.

at least I still got that great Slayer/Rick Rubin track.

at least I still got that great Slayer/Rick Rubin track. I like how Rick Rubin's hip hop production aesthetic has remained essentially unchanged since 1986.
