adam... (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 18:13 (twenty-one years ago)

s1ocki-if you're using mp3s rather than wav files, nero let's you crossfade tracks and it's always easy to find 35 seconds.

how does it work again? a cd's worth of your fave tracks regardless of genre? on the mellower tip?

JaXoN (JasonD), Thursday, 6 January 2005 07:14 (twenty-one years ago)

a mix of obscure and not?

JaXoN (JasonD), Thursday, 6 January 2005 07:15 (twenty-one years ago)

That's the prevailing view. However, if for instance Dan Perry just puts Venga Boys "We Like to Party" on 20 times in a row, then more power to him!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 6 January 2005 07:20 (twenty-one years ago)

It's what you would play to a bunch of people who came back to your house after a night of dancing as you wind down, chat, bob your heads and potentially get wasted.

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Wednesday, 15 June 2005 03:27 (twenty years ago)

My iTunes quickie is ridiculously bad. I'm terrible at making mixes in general, and 'late-night' sounds more fuzzy/hazy than smooth and soulful. I'll put it up as soon as I figure out a way to put it together.

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Wednesday, 15 June 2005 03:36 (twenty years ago)

This one, my Jetlag mix, was originally intended to lull me to sleep on airplanes. I find it works great very late at night when you're trying to wind things down (way down). The last track has a fun jarring bit, which I left it in anyway.

Spacemen 3 - Walking With Jesus
Lali Puna - Together in Electric Dreams
My Bloody Valentine - To Here Knows When
Herbert - It's Only a Reprise

the D Double signal (nordicskilla), Thursday, 16 June 2005 17:38 (twenty years ago)

Haha, I know what you mean! Still haven't had time to mess around with Traktor yet.

It's been too hot in T.O. to make mixes, but now that it's cooled down a lot, I need to reacquaint myself with the wheels of steel.

Vahid, I'm d/l'ing yours right now ... it looks amazing.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Thursday, 16 June 2005 20:20 (twenty years ago)

I've been listening to Vahid's today!

the PSB signal (nordicskilla), Thursday, 16 June 2005 20:22 (twenty years ago)

i can never download things on ysi because of my shitty connection :-(

strng hlkngtn, Thursday, 16 June 2005 20:28 (twenty years ago)

vahid, halfway through your back to mine and it's ***amazing***. How are you blending the tracks? I didn't know that Britta and Dean sampled the strings on that Hazlewood song.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 16 June 2005 22:06 (twenty years ago)

Okay, so I get an error message every time I try to install the OSX demo of Traktor! WHY?

the PSB signal (nordicskilla), Thursday, 16 June 2005 23:27 (twenty years ago)

Apple sucks? ("kidding")

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 16 June 2005 23:32 (twenty years ago)

How are you blending the tracks?

2 cd players, crossfader, lots of planning.

vahid (vahid), Thursday, 16 June 2005 23:40 (twenty years ago)

nice. "old" school, haha!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 16 June 2005 23:43 (twenty years ago)

i was pretty happy with the first one. i made an earlier version at the tail end of a very long, dragged-out breakup, listened to it lots, esp all the time in my car, started dating a girl i had a crush on for years and years, so went back and re-organized it into it's current form. when i gave it to her she said "i like it because it reminds me of being in your car". oops

i'm really happy with the first one but i'm not so sure how good the 2nd one is ... the first is a really "personal" selection, that could be 3/4ths of a hypothetical all-time top 20. the second one i made because said gf is a big free jazz fan and doesn't really listen to dance music. i put it together as a compromise move.

vahid (vahid), Thursday, 16 June 2005 23:45 (twenty years ago)

WTF - DON'T CLICK ON THAT LINK.

vahid (vahid), Thursday, 16 June 2005 23:46 (twenty years ago)

vahid (vahid), Thursday, 16 June 2005 23:47 (twenty years ago)

teeny (teeny), Friday, 17 June 2005 01:22 (twenty years ago)

I gotta sort out the grubby mixes on it, but I recorded an actual 'back to mine' the other night when I was back at mine. It started out as a dumb gag about "house of pain" but then turned into a story-of-a-breakup type thing which I reckon actually came out pretty nice.

1. Fingers Inc - "Mysteries of love"
2. Raze - "Break for love"
3. Richie Rich - "You used to salsa"
4. Blaze - "Another lover"
5. Michael Proctor - "Love don't live"
6. Mario Reyes - "Lost love (I want you back)"
7. Joi Cardwell - "Trouble" (Tom Moulton re-edit)
8. Dajae - "Day by day" (Ron and Chez vocal mix)
9. Big Moses - "Brighter days"
10. Frankie Knuckles - "The whistle song" (Eric Kupper mix)

Jacob (Jacob), Friday, 17 June 2005 05:32 (twenty years ago)

here's mine - it's not exactly perfect because i'm limited to tracks that were already on my computer - no vinyl and, since my disc drive is broken, i couldn't import stuff from CD either.

Back to Mine - jed.

01:41 Little Willie John - Need Your Love So Bad
03:53 Lulu – Morning Dew

10:52 Dick Hyman - Alfred, the King of Disco

hope you like it!

jed_ (jed), Friday, 17 June 2005 15:18 (twenty years ago)

argh!

The Vienna Boy's choir track is "burning down the house" not "on the road again"

jed_ (jed), Friday, 17 June 2005 15:20 (twenty years ago)

I love that R&S record.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 17 June 2005 15:21 (twenty years ago)

Let's start worshipping jed!

I'll listen to this at work today. I want ot make mine (mixed) but alas, traktor.

the PSB signal (nordicskilla), Friday, 17 June 2005 15:28 (twenty years ago)

ahem, bring it on.

i actually just made mine with itunes: fiddling about with track ending times and the itunes "crossfade playback" function and recorded it using audio hijack so it's not very sophisticated mixing (or even fading).

jed_ (jed), Friday, 17 June 2005 15:38 (twenty years ago)

I will try that. Is Audio Hijack an application? I use Wiretap.

the PSB signal (nordicskilla), Friday, 17 June 2005 15:45 (twenty years ago)

Don't you have to set the same "crossfade playback time" for all tracks?

the PSB signal (nordicskilla), Friday, 17 June 2005 15:45 (twenty years ago)

audio hijack is like wiretap but slightly with a few more extras (you can add echo's and all sorts of other filters to the playback, i didn't do this with this mix)

http://www.rogueamoeba.com/audiohijack/

(you can find a cracked copy on limewire i think)

i set a default crossfade of 6 seconds and ajusted it slightly for a few tracks as the mix played back.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 17 June 2005 15:50 (twenty years ago)

"adjusted"

jed_ (jed), Friday, 17 June 2005 15:51 (twenty years ago)

i'm re-uploading mine so if anyone want to hear it then shout and i'll mail you the link to the YSI.

Vahid, yours is really great. i was going to use "empty streets" and "your sweet love" on mine but changed the trcklisting slightly when i heard yours.

jed_ (jed), Saturday, 18 June 2005 19:48 (twenty years ago)
