Is it vulgar to post one's own list of 2004 in its own thread? I can't find a compostite thread - maybe it was eaten? This effort has an exciting Choose Your Own Adventure format. Abuse cheerfully received.

LSTD (answer) (sexyDancer), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 22:21 (twenty years ago)

You now have to shell out for the Ayler, and listen to it all, repeatedly.

The System Has Failed

bahtology, Wednesday, 22 December 2004 01:20 (twenty years ago)

I'm supposed to listen to Bebel Gilberto.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 22 December 2004 01:21 (twenty years ago)

i got 'Real Gone' as well - there must only be about seven albums to pick from

Frankenstein On Ice (blueski), Wednesday, 22 December 2004 01:27 (twenty years ago)

Sounds like the olden days!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 22 December 2004 01:28 (twenty years ago)

I "chose" indiepop 01

Ken L (Ken L), Wednesday, 22 December 2004 01:31 (twenty years ago)

I'm still trying to figure out how to get Girls Aloud and Emma Bunton. I've found Annie (gung-ho music to get ready to go out to, with a good beat) but bizarrely the same thing but with a 'bring it on' approach to the opposite gender leads to... PJ Harvey's Uh Huh Her. Which is great but wtf?

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 22 December 2004 01:35 (twenty years ago)

Aha! Girls Aloud is a communal, friends-together album, not a gung-ho, derring-do album. Hmm.

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 22 December 2004 01:36 (twenty years ago)

I got a record I've never heard of ...

Congratulations! You have chosen Flotation Toy Warning's The Bluffers Guide To The Flight Deck.

Joseph McCombs (Joseph McCombs), Wednesday, 22 December 2004 04:27 (twenty years ago)

i got indiepop 01 too, which really isn't very far from the truth. 2004 is the worst year for music i've lived through.

the surface noise (slight return) (electricsound), Wednesday, 22 December 2004 05:48 (twenty years ago)

Who the hell are Flotation Toy Warning?

My name is Kenny (My name is Kenny), Wednesday, 22 December 2004 05:58 (twenty years ago)

Windy sub-Flaming Lips meandering. I got it as well. I doubt even the people who made or released it think it's anything like an album of the year

DJ Mencap0))), Wednesday, 22 December 2004 09:49 (twenty years ago)

Full disclosure: I'm the the "author" of the "O-Matic" and I find Albums Of The Year lists, and Which X Are You? quizzes meaningless, but sometimes fun. So this was supposed to be, um, meaningless fun. The questons don't really mean anything, and the answers are just 40-odd decent CDs from this year. Since these things are almost always at least a tiny bit subjective, Flotation Toy Warning made it in. Apologies if it looked scientific, definitive, non-vulgar or anything else misleading. It's just a load of stuff.

Onwards!

Acme (acme), Tuesday, 28 December 2004 17:44 (twenty years ago)

Congratulations! You have chosen The Country Soul Revue's Testifying.

I'm happier with this than any of the others, I reckon.

Captain GRRRios' Giggletits (Barima), Tuesday, 28 December 2004 18:31 (twenty years ago)

Who the hell is the Real Tuesday Weld?

Chris O'Connor (Chris O'Connor), Tuesday, 28 December 2004 18:51 (twenty years ago)

Got Bjork and then re-tried and got some fellow named James Yorkston or something

David Allen (David Allen), Tuesday, 28 December 2004 18:53 (twenty years ago)

I got John Fahey - Yellow Princess and now I'm slsking it

Mike O. (Mike Ouderkirk), Tuesday, 28 December 2004 21:53 (twenty years ago)
