The Jentina one is surprisingly good. The Soulwax one should have been "Miserable Girl", but "E-Talking" is a decent second choice. I feel like that Stonebridge song is so bloody old by now. Which it is. You've got to admire Bjork for pushing such unfriendly material, and doing better on the singles charts with it. Hall & Oates? Hallelujah, make it #1, people!

wtf wtf wtf wtf wtf

I also love how Phixx and Jentina are still plugging away - I do wonder what the 'tina's new direction will be, she switched from Timbaland cast-offs to (vg) early 90s pop rave for her second single and still didn't sell shit.

It's amusing how Björk insists on releasing a decent number of singles, no matter how uncommercial the album.

Ciara is going to RULE 2005, hopefully. She's the best girl ever and I heart her so much.

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 22 December 2004 00:37 (twenty years ago)

i rike her but she seems to lack the oomph of Beyonce no? '1, 2 Step' is maybe even better than 'Goodies' (which was a real grower on me)

Frankenstein On Ice (blueski), Wednesday, 22 December 2004 01:16 (twenty years ago)

Yes but she also lacks Beyoncé's rubbish balladry. And I like "Goodies" better than "Crazy In Love".

Have you heard "Hotline" Steve? It's even better than "1 2 Step"...

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 22 December 2004 01:32 (twenty years ago)

I'm imagining a Phixx cover of Depeche Mode's "Strangelove". I've never heard Phixx but I can still sorta see it.

xpost yeah "Hotline" and "Oh" are best by far.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Wednesday, 22 December 2004 01:35 (twenty years ago)

Her slow jams are really good Tim - I think you'd like them esp "Pick Up The Phone" and "Other Chicks".

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 22 December 2004 01:42 (twenty years ago)

i'm quite looking forward to the new Fierce Girl i must confess

Frankenstein On Ice (blueski), Wednesday, 22 December 2004 01:45 (twenty years ago)

Right, the 1000th number one is definitely gonna be in February, then.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Wednesday, 22 December 2004 01:50 (twenty years ago)

well i left a few obvious and dull sounding things out. but perhaps you're right.

Frankenstein On Ice (blueski), Wednesday, 22 December 2004 13:34 (twenty years ago)

i can see 'Goodies' being #1 easily enough tho. she's very hot in the video but it's terribly edited so that when Petey's uttering his best lines the camera isn't even on him, and the whole thing's terribly unimaginative anyway.

Frankenstein On Ice (blueski), Wednesday, 22 December 2004 13:35 (twenty years ago)

Has anyone heard the new Manuva? I'm dreading it, especially after I heard he'd taken a "grime direction", which I'm guessing actually translates as "he does some shouting".

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 22 December 2004 13:36 (twenty years ago)

christ, that's a depressing list. except the weddoes, natch.

fuck, that reminds me ... where's that erasure album? ... can't have lost it already ... shit ... am gonna get my baws bashed.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Wednesday, 22 December 2004 14:20 (twenty years ago)

Don't forget the Elvis! (Actually, do. Jailhouse Rock is the only one worth it)

no it means whoever told you that was being lazy/ignorant more likely.

fuck an Elvis, pedantic the sucker is simple and plain.

Frankenstein On Ice (blueski), Wednesday, 22 December 2004 14:41 (twenty years ago)

"Goodies" hasn't been released yet in the UK? Neither has "Destroy Rock 'n Roll"? Why the hell not?

Crazy record business.

Mr. Snrub, Wednesday, 22 December 2004 15:12 (twenty years ago)

it's as if they WANT us to download 'em

Frankenstein On Ice (blueski), Wednesday, 22 December 2004 15:44 (twenty years ago)

all of these will be forgotten by december 2005 ;)

Rizz (Rizz), Saturday, 1 January 2005 19:24 (twenty years ago)

Goodies will never be forgotten ever.

And the original poster forgot Scissor Sisters's "Filthy/Gorgeous," which is surely the greatest single yet culled from their wonderful debut album. Released in two days.

Atnevon (Atnevon), Saturday, 1 January 2005 20:08 (twenty years ago)

Ciara deserves every success. And she's the smoovest dancer.

Captain GRRRios' Giggletits (Barima), Saturday, 1 January 2005 23:28 (twenty years ago)
