The TV listing I saw had basically got:

1) Mimp my Pride (anag) (Plus 1)
2) The Osbournes
3) Repeat until closedown

Prince, in a recent interview, said there's no music on MTV anymore. So, is it all 'lifestyle'?

No.
But VH1 Classic is nice sometimes.

Pretty much. Regular VH1 as well. They do occasionally play actual videos but I've lost track of when exactly. MTV2 is better but not as much as it should be. MTV2 shouldn't even have to exist if you ask me. Pretty soon it will be filled with non-music content and then on to MTV3, the saga continues.

apparently MTV is to start showing short promotional films again, like it did ten years ago for all kinds of odd arts projects, awareness campaigns and the like. at the time i hated much of it but came to miss it when it was ditched.

remember when MTV2 started you could go to the website, pick a bunch of videos and if selected from the random database they'd be aired with your name up on screen. ideas like this are great but they don't generate cash so had to go pretty sharpish.

i would like to see BBC Three devote much more time to modern music esp. reports and features and interviews instead of just pandering to the dominant culture that revolves around 'live performance'. more music videos too. integrate the kind of stuff we saw on the excellent and sadly missed Play UK into the mandate immediately. they can't really lose any MORE viewers can they? and it's cheaper than comissioning another series of Burn It or Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps Please surely?

Yeah, I did this a number of times, even though I haven't got MTV2. Idea being, if it got used, I'd ring someone and get them to tape the half hour (or whatever) of really cool stuff. Did I get picked? Did I custard.

ha, me neither. i selected 'Pump Up The Volume', Photek's remix of Therapy? and Towa Tei's 'Technova' iirc

Oh they tempted me with Can vids, Beefheart, Ash, PIL, and added some Beth Orton for balance. Not a sausage.

I wouldn't even mind, but it took 20 mins to type / select them in the first place...

yes. it was actually a terrible idea wasn't it. how long til MTV2 becomes just another 'call/txt jukebox' then?

Frankenstein On Ice (blueski), Wednesday, 22 December 2004 12:46 (twenty-one years ago)

.. and it's 20 minutes of "Bow down and get yer Eagle on girl" on repeat...

vh1 classics and vh2 are usually good, mtv dance is usually funny. and the performance channel (not an mtv affiliate) often has interesting concerts/documentary stuff.

The Vault is always doing Baggy Weekend or something isn't it?

Sigh. We had Sky installed a couple of days ago. 'The joy!' I thought, but no, 10+ music channels and theyre all showing nothing but Twista, Natasha Bloody Bedingfield and The Noise Next Door.

I had such high hopes!

MTV is dead to me.

There is no way any of these will be worth watching.

MTV Espanol seems to only play videos. I stayed at my friend's place the last couple weeks, and out of the 300 channels he has, that's what I watched the most.
