The last ever Festive 50 will air on the 28/29/30 December hosted by Rob Da Bank. This is great news but obviously quite emotional too, well, for people who care about these things ie me. How does everyone feel about it? Plus will this be the last time Half Man Half Biscuit receive a national airing?

My guess is that in 2005, there will be another as proof that the 'Peel Remit' still is being followed through upon. Year after that, though, I would bet against it.

and no to the HMHB question, Andy Kershaw plays them (" the greatest British folk group since the clash") quite regularly.

I think the only apt tribute to Peel would be to make "Joy Division Oven Gloves" the last Festive #1.

There will be a lot of people voting that haven't done so before (or for Years), meaning that the Libertines may well win, or chart high, even though they haven't before and by all reckoning, JP didn't rate them anyway.

Presumably only about 20% of what Peel would have played in 2005 will be played (if that) so a Festive Fifty 2005 doesn't bear thinking about!!!!!

This is terrible terrible news.

There IS NO Festive Fifty without Peelie.
