to the first person who can help me w/ a song title. I gotta go out of town anyway(Guatemala) so they're of no use to me, but if I gets no love I'll let em rot. It's a new wave song c. mid-80's and the chorus goes:

"blah blah forward, moooving blaaah blaah"
(where blah blah=placeholder)

I'll even give the melody, in a manner probably more convoluted than it should be but I don't know how one is supposed to do it.
4/4, the quarter notes are in caps, 8ths are small letters, and 16ths ths are in parentheses. the periods are just ties/placeholders for counting

blah blah forward | moving blah blah
B . D . d (c)(b) A . | C . D . d c C . |

it's bugging me.
I've never given away Soulseek privs(is a new feature w/ build 155) so I don't know if you can give away as much as you want, but I will give at least 14 days.

oh yeah I need it by Thursday, by 5 pm Pacific time or you'll have to wait a while for the privileges.

Holy crap: I think I know what you're talking about. The melody is bubbling up but the context is lost.

You know, this isn't an exact match, but on the off chance that you have the lyrics wrong, you're not thinking of Peter Schilling's Major Tom by any chance?

dlp9001, Thursday, 23 December 2004 03:27 (twenty years ago)

...which I haven't heard in a long time, so I may be overestimating its resemblance to what you posted.

dlp9001, Thursday, 23 December 2004 03:29 (twenty years ago)

Odd, I thought of "Major Tom" too.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Thursday, 23 December 2004 03:29 (twenty years ago)

Yep, just tried the notes, and it's def. Major Tom.

Standing there alone
the ship is waiting
all systems are go
are you sure?
control is not convinced
but the computer
has the evidence
"no need to abort"
the countdown starts

watching in a trance
the crew is certain
nothing left to chance
all is working trying to relax
up in the capsule
"send me up a drink"
jokes Major Tom
the count goes on

4 3 2 1
Earth below us
drifting falling
floating weightless
calling calling home...

second stage is cut
we're now in orbit
stabilizers uprunning perfect
starting to collect
requested data
what will it affect
when all is done
thinks Major Tom

back at ground control
there is a problem
go to rockets full
not responding
"hello Major Tom
are you receiving
turn the thrusters on
we're standing by"
there's no reply

4 3 2 1
Earth below us
drifting falling
floating weightless
calling calling home...

across the stratosphere
a final message
"give my wife my love"
then nothing more

far beneath the ship
the world is mourning
they don't realize
he's alive
no one understands
but Major Tom sees
now the life commands
this is my home
I'm coming home

Earth below us
drifting falling
floating weightless
coming home...
Earth below us
drifting falling
floating weightless
coming home...
Earth below us
drifting falling
floating weightless
coming coming home...home.....
