Not sure how I made it this far in life without knowing "Give Me the Night". OH EM GEE I want to put this on repeat for the next 72 hours.

That album is an underrated Quincy Jones peak. In fact, will relisten to it now.

Yes! Top tune! One of my Mom's favorites.

Agree that the whole album is very good, but I've been concentrating on the title track with a lazer focus.

Yes, Give Me the Night. One of those songs a buddy of mine linked to on Facebook a few years ago and I was whoa, I'm back in my dad's 280z on a weekend visit just like that.
Louis Jordan played bass on that one, but Stanley Banks was on some of the earlier ones like Breezin. Check out what a bad-ass multi-talented fool this guy was at 3:12

Funny you should say that (and I thought I had posted this story on one of the Benson threads) -- I once lived on the main floor of a duplex with pretty thin insulation, and the family upstairs would often put "Turn Your Love Around" on repeat, just the one song, for hours at a time, sometimes all night. Could never figure out if someone loved the song that much, if they were using it as a sex soundtrack, or if they were not even home and deterring intruders, or what the deal was.

Haha. George Benson as anti-burglary device.
― Johnny Fever, Friday, 12 April 2013 20:03 (twelve years ago)
love Benson's tone

I met him recently, came in the office to do this video. Nice guy, he has that glow, that I'm a badass glow.

No doubt, pretty obvious in person that he's had some work done on his face, though.

Some web page I read recently where a guy was talking about right hand guitar technique said that as far as using a pick George Benson's method was by far the most efficient.

you've got George Benson doing some beach rollerskating guitar jam dancing and you only use about thirty seconds of it in the video, that's more restraint than I'd have been able to show.
Also the whole Give Me the Night album is great.

Yes! It's Give Me The Night's "Rock With You". That one is Mount Everest, this one is somewhere there above the clouds too, in its vicinity.
