for a while now i`ve been obsessed by carly simon`s "why?", i think everything about it is absolutely perfect..but no-one else seems to rate it quite as much as i do; ok i`ve only asked 3 people, most of whom were only familiar with the glamma kid bastardization... i also think kylie`s last single owes a debt to this chic penned masterpiece.. so let me put it to you "why?" classic or dud?

BRILLIANT!!!!!CLASSIC Heard it for the first time in many years at an old skool Balearic club night recently, and thought to myself, my what an ahead of its time record....its very hmmm housey i suppose, considering it was recorded in 1981. Other than this track though, i`m not at all keen on Carly Simon. Her record sleeves are particularly bad.

Love it for the air of vulnerability given by the wavering synth line which makes the record sound as though it's warped (see also Human League "Keep Feeling Fascination" and of course the collected works of MBV from "You Made Me Realise" onwards.

Why commands high prices on the second hand market too. One dealer here in Belgium alwasy asks 50 Euros.
