I daren't even think about it. I'll just go in HMV and see what's there and then not buy anything, as usual, and instead spend £15 on some Eno reissue.

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Friday, 24 December 2004 09:27 (twenty years ago)

Assuming that's 'Drawn From Memory', which I got for £3.50 in Oxfam - it's good value, actually. Hooligan, Yeah You, New Adam New Eve - all perfectly solid little tunes.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Friday, 24 December 2004 13:20 (twenty years ago)

Let me at it

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 24 December 2004 13:23 (twenty years ago)

Virgin seems to have started its sale today. Mummy, mummy, those kerrazy postmodern capitalists are fuckin with my head.

Speakerboxx/Love Below @ 4.99, Withnail DVD @ 4.99, and a copy of The Wire, please.

They have "Ice Cream for Crow" for 99p.

Snnap Dragon (snnap dragon), Friday, 24 December 2004 14:16 (twenty years ago)

Loads of stuff. I'm without a lot of stuff from last year that I want due to my big accident and long period in hospital and no job (I'm a student) but due to a duplicate birthday pressy I have £50 of credit at HMV to spend. On the list are the Beasties, Har Mar Superstar, Beta Band, Peaches, Dizzee Rascal, Wiley, Busted, McFly, Brassy, Christina Milian, Puffy Ami Yumi, Ludacris and Boomkat. I await a big shop with glee.

Nick H (Nick H), Friday, 24 December 2004 17:05 (twenty years ago)

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 11:05 (twenty years ago)

i got a nice Avirex top in Lewisham yesterday - half price. only just noticed the zip lining is a tiny bit scuffed tho.

Frankenstein On Ice (blueski), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 11:19 (twenty years ago)

Ice Cream for Crow for 99p?! I ain't seen that in my crap local Virgin. I'll be looking for it though. Most of the cheap CDs I have, annoyingly. I got the Producers on DVD for £7.99 and Derek and Clive Get The Horn for £6.99. And a Buffy calender for £1.99. Er...

stew, Tuesday, 4 January 2005 11:30 (twenty years ago)

todays result :

x-press2 - muzikizum - £1.99

.. loving the Yello collab .. this is worthy of the entry price alone.

wow.

though i am reading elsewhere that PiL's Metal Box is @ Fopp for a fiver .. and i cant get there till later this week, so my chances are somewhat slim on that one.

mark e (mark e), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 15:01 (twenty years ago)

that xpress2 album has a couple of good records on it.

I like the really goofy happy house one towards the end too.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 15:07 (twenty years ago)

ha !

thats probably the one that is making me wince right now .. (little too goofy for me .. )

mark e (mark e), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 15:09 (twenty years ago)

doh .. incorrect brackets .. too many message board interaction introduces confusion ..

mark e (mark e), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 15:10 (twenty years ago)

Is that Metal Box as opposed to the more convenient but nowhere as cool looking Second Edition? Tempting...

stew, Tuesday, 4 January 2005 15:13 (twenty years ago)

mark e try and find the Medicine 8 mix of 'I Want You Back' too!

Frankenstein On Ice (blueski), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 15:15 (twenty years ago)

I bought the Cut Copy album for £1.99 in HMV but didn't check the disc before I got it home and have thus been shafted - it's scratched beyond all playability, but how can I ever convince them it wasn't me?

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 15:17 (twenty years ago)

maybe just take it back, saying you want to exchange it - then just bring up another copy if they have one and see if they notice?

Frankenstein On Ice (blueski), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 15:18 (twenty years ago)

"mark e try and find the Medicine 8 mix of 'I Want You Back' too!"

oh yeah ..

re HMV .. just tell em straight .. and take no sh*t .. they wont give a hoot for £1.99 ..

as for Metal Box/SE .. no idea - yet ..

mark e (mark e), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 15:24 (twenty years ago)

ok. made it to fopp on the PiL recommendation .. tis indeed Metal Box cd for a fiver. grabbed that along with junior senior album and cut la roc for 3 quid each.

they are doing a massive Skint clearout for all you big beat revival folks .. (Lo-Fi's second album, Midfield General album, Brassic Beats3, and the big 2cd comp that they put in the clear box - no DVD though .. all for £3 each)

mark e (mark e), Friday, 7 January 2005 14:26 (twenty years ago)

HMV: The Curtom Story double CD set and Angie Stone's Mahogany for £6.99 each. John Digweed Global Underground mix - gamble for £1.99.
