jake b. (cerybut), Sunday, 26 December 2004 18:22 (twenty-one years ago)

whats so omgwtflol about slow motion?

tracks that imply they were recorded mid-coitus give me the giggles (best example: LL Cool J's "Back Seat"). Before I saw the video I hoped they'd use an image similar to the one in Three Times One Minus One's "Eww, Girl, Eww" of the girl riding on top of David Cross while he sings. Plus the video has nothing to do with ultra-fuckin' (with "blisters and open sores"!) and the lyrics reference previous abuse accusations and other assorted bizarre details.

miccio (miccio), Sunday, 26 December 2004 18:34 (twenty-one years ago)

The Good Dr. Bill (The Good Dr. Bill), Sunday, 26 December 2004 18:38 (twenty-one years ago)

hmm, 2004 doesn't seem to be a particularly omgwtflol year.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 26 December 2004 20:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, we only listed about 150 for the 90s poll, and that was an entire decade.

The Good Dr. Bill (The Good Dr. Bill), Sunday, 26 December 2004 21:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Anthony, I don't understand half of your picks. "Let's Get It Started"? "Confessions Pt 2"? "Vertigo"? OTOH, the other half of your picks are spot-on ... the American Idol stuff is WTFOMGLOL royalty (albeit that's like shooting fish in a barrel). Korn and Britney's bizarro-covers are great picks too.

45. Xiu Xiu - "Suppor Our Troops OH!"
??
Lumped in amongst the mainstream songs on this thread, sure, Xiu Xiu are WTFOMGLOL. If we're going to look at it that way, then the entire Xiu Xiu, Liars, Deerhoof, and The Go Team albums are OMGWTFLOL too.

btw, the most WTFOMGLOL Xiu Xiu song is easily, easily "Ian Curtis Wishlist" from last year. OK, I'm starting a Xiu Xiu thread right now.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Sunday, 26 December 2004 21:57 (twenty-one years ago)

"Let's Get it Started" has the whole "retarted" vs. "it started" thing going for it, the bizarre vid., the random white chick factor...

"Confessions, Pt. 2" you could get into the OMGWTFLOL morality of the thing--the fact that Usher cheated on his girl but maintains self-righteousness over the fact that he was honest about it ("all right I told you about it, what more could you want from me??!?") especially when taken in conjunction with the extremely insincere video ("I feel so bad, baby, I gotta take my shirt off and dance") and the even less sorry seeming remix with Twista and Kanye (basically they all laugh about how they cheated on their girlfriends but hey, at least they were honest).

"Vertigo" only needs four words--uno, dos, tres, catorce.

Even by Xiu Xiu standards, "Support Our Troops OH!" is OMGWTFLOL. I mean, my god--"oh wait, you totally did know that..."

The Good Dr. Bill (The Good Dr. Bill), Sunday, 26 December 2004 22:04 (twenty-one years ago)

what Good Dr. Bill said. "Vertigo" sounds like Enrique Iglesias leading R.E.M.-circa-Monster through a Lenny Kravitz ditty. And while "Let's Get It Started" places low, it does have that C+C/Snap/dippy dance vibe that got those tracks on the '90s list. "Hey Mama" does too.

"Vertigo" sounds like Enrique Iglesias leading R.E.M.-circa-Monster through a Lenny Kravitz ditty.

and it's still THE BEST SONG ON THE ALBUM. wtf. SAD.

miccio (miccio), Monday, 27 December 2004 00:30 (twenty-one years ago)

How could I forget:

47. OutKast - "Roses" (video perhaps #1 all-time OMGWTF)

Mondie ft Donae'o - "Straight" - 'oi mate, yes mate, shut your mouth'
