Ah, but can you imagine copulating with Bo Derek to it?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 27 December 2004 20:15 (twenty years ago)

This song is so ace that even Bob Seger couldn't ruin it!

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Monday, 27 December 2004 20:19 (twenty years ago)

Has he attempted it?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 27 December 2004 20:22 (twenty years ago)

Yes. It's on the A Very Special Christmas compilation that gets played EVERY YEAR at my household.

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Monday, 27 December 2004 20:30 (twenty years ago)

I'm partial to the Bing'n'Bowie rendition, m'self.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 27 December 2004 20:31 (twenty years ago)

I like the Jimi Hendrix version and the Joan Jett version.

The Destiny's Child rendition sucks balls.

Tannenbaum Schmidt (Nik), Monday, 27 December 2004 22:10 (twenty years ago)

even the fact it was used to sell overpriced scarves can't hurt the majesty of low's version.

Can be mawkishly awful. Can be spellbinding. I'd like a Schneider TM version...

Jacob (Jacob), Tuesday, 28 December 2004 03:57 (twenty years ago)

there was a version by the dandy warhols... no comment...
and i just heard an excellent version (mixing the start with that of the bolero) by prin' la lá, a group of pre-teen spanish girls that play kindergarten psychedelia à la langley schools music project. i don't know if it can be on soulseek, but it's great.

Mark Kozelek did this at a live show years ago a few days before christmas. RHP style. Made my gf now wife cry. CLASSIC

Big Baby Bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 13:09 (twenty years ago)

anyone have Lows version that they can post?

Big Baby Bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 13:16 (twenty years ago)

I like that rude rocksteady tune called "Wreck A Buddy" that rips off the tune to this.

dog latin (dog latin), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 13:54 (twenty years ago)

JESSICA SIMPSON YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SING THIS SONG EVER AGAIN.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 15:50 (twenty years ago)

I recently saw a rockabilly-ish act called Tijuana Hercules try this one out live: fun.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 16:05 (twenty years ago)

Classic; I like it by the Vince Guaraldi Trio.

(I searched ILM for "little drummer boy" a few days before Christmas and Chris V, you must have touted that live RHP version of it in 10 different threads haha)

W i l l (common_person), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 16:12 (twenty years ago)

thats because it was a memorable moment in my life....how boring huh. ;)

Big Baby Bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 16:13 (twenty years ago)

the flaming lips do a badass version of this on the providing needles for your balloons ep

christopher (WHO), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 17:00 (twenty years ago)

Weird. Every year I have a fight with myself over which is the worst xmas song ever -- this, or "the 12 Days of Christmas". This year, it was neither -- "Jingle Bell Rock" got played on the office intercom about 5 times a day, and forced its way to the top of the list.
