The Blueprint
Bleed American
Built to Spill's Live
I Get Wet
Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
Gallowsbird's Bark
Mississippi: The Album
SMiLE
The College Dropout

Chris O'Connor (Chris O'Connor), Monday, 27 December 2004 15:49 (twenty-one years ago)

My favorite albums of the 00s all come from predictable acts (Prince, The Cure, Radiohead, Underworld, Boards of Canada) with the sole exception of Kenna, who released possibly the most unfairly-ignored album of the past five years.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 27 December 2004 15:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Gallowbird's Bark
Blueberry Boat
Graham Smith
Life Begins Again
Pig Lib
Swedish Reggae (sic)
Come With Us
Absolutes
Murray Street
I'm Sorry That Sometimes I'm Mean
Final Battle
Is This It
Sung Tongs

Those are the ones I can think of right now.

x-post There's apparently an entire chapter dedicated to Kenna in the upcoming book by Malcolm Gladwell, author of "The Tipping Point." Specifically how such a promising artist goes overlooked and/or fails commercially.

Who Will Cut Our Hair When We’re Gone?

Raymond Cummings (Raymond Cummings), Monday, 27 December 2004 17:11 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought we were starting yet another poll for a minute! The next Freaky Trigger Club Nite is a celebration of the noughties, but I don't suppose they will be playing whole albums, unless one of the DJs is feeling very lazy.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 27 December 2004 17:21 (twenty-one years ago)

As long as it's better than the chapter on Radish in John Seabrook's Nobrow.

a, Monday, 27 December 2004 17:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Almost half hip hop, I notice, with other good showings from techno/house, drum & bass, pop and R&B, with rock barely showing unless you count Tom Waits. I guess that represents my tastes reasonably accurately over the last five years.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 27 December 2004 18:08 (twenty-one years ago)

i most agree with martin's list (could do without the underworld and haven't heard the daphne and celeste tho and blackalicious bore me to the degree that i once won a copy of that album and didn't collect it). i'd have aaliyah's self-titled somewhere in there, and 'the blueprint' too.

Of the albums listed so far on this thread I only own Discovery and Amnesiac, neither of which I listen to regularly. (I've been too busy digging back into the '80s and buying albums that are older than I am!)
