My friend says the flute sample is an Israeli folk song. Anyone know? I couldn't find anything with google.

dunno but it's probably not done in their studio - you can tell because the last fraction of a second of the loop is repeated

yeah you hear a bit of a "skip" esp. at the beginning when there's nothing more than the loop. i think that creates a certain tension that the song doesn't resolve until the end, when the loop is allowed to play through to several bars of a trumpet solo (??).

the effect is pretty cathartic actually.

i have to admit that i don't understand all the lyrics to this one ("i'll tell you how my day has been/and how the sun has warmed my face"???) but i love it anyhow.

cathartic not in some heavy emotional way, just a really satisfying musical resolution.

Is this a newie, or have I missed something? Are we expecting a new Jaxx album soon? Dear god I hope so. It'd be good if it was released in unison with a new Daft Punk one.

it's on "rooty"

Thanks. I should really know that. I bought Rooty a couple of weeks ago but have yet to remember everything on it fully.

Good ear, Chee. Totally obvious once you pointed it out. I guess that doesn't hurt my friend's claim. Doesn't help it much, either.
