Adam Curry wants to Podcast to you

He's back!. To his credit, he was actually the guy who set up mtv.com in the first place and was trying to convince the company that this Internet thing might actually be worth investigating.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 30 December 2004 02:36 (twenty years ago)

i love this:

"At a certain point in 1995, I was driving in on a Friday afternoon, beautiful blue sky, one of those beautiful days thinking, this is so stupid.

"You know, I'm going do the Top 20 Countdown, take the cheque, go home, and sit on the internet until three in the morning.

"So, after I finished the show, I quit. I said, on air, it's been great, I've been here for seven years at that point, there's something on the internet, I've got to go find it, and I'll see you later."

like how looking around and seeing a beautiful sunny day is an indication you should spend MORE time on the internet!

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Thursday, 30 December 2004 02:51 (twenty years ago)

"To be the Johnny Carson, or Ed Sullivan of anything is wonderful. And you know what? You don't need a hell of a lot of talent."

For some reson, I"m not seeing my RSS feed updating to reflect the Daily Source Code and its enclosure. Could be a weird caching thing here at starbucks. Still digging... # C~[12]

I love the web. What Tesla did not have over Marconi, we do have on the web today.See the genesis of podcasting, which dates back more than 4 years. The first song to be transmitted was a podsafe tune by the Grateful Dead. I only met him once, but I'm pretty sure Jerry would've loved users and developers partying together. # C~[1]

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 30 December 2004 04:55 (twenty years ago)

I find it a little disturbing that you can now not only download as much music as you want for free, but that you can get a shitload of music you don't even particularly want while you sleep.

Hurting (Hurting), Thursday, 30 December 2004 05:04 (twenty years ago)

Why was there a band called Tesla but not a band called Marconi?

dave225 (Dave225), Thursday, 30 December 2004 13:02 (twenty years ago)

Adam Curry's podcast, I believe, is currently the world's most popular one. I think he's managed to accumulate about 50,000 subscribers just by the fact that his name saturates any google results for 'podcast'. I agree - the quality of the show's nothing exceptional. To add another twist, Curry recently 'split' from his long time business partner. Curry was nominated by Wire magazine (www.wire.com) for an award because of his podcasting invention. His mate has just challenged his contribution and argues that Adam merely did the marketing, not the technical innovation.
