Benny Mardonis 'Into The Night': who wrote it?

The lyrics sites all pin the blame on the gang later known as U2 but they all, to a man, mis-spell Bono's real name as Paul 'Harrison' so I'm not too swayed by the weight of numbers. My personal view is the U2 connection is bollox, but can anybody confirm or refute definitely?
