Wrong - Gino had a MULLET 'fro!
-- tarden (scrape10...), July 9th, 2001.

also, gino gets points for being a howard stern look-alike a full decade before howard stern became, well, howard stern.

"People Keep Movin" prefigured George Michael by about 15 years. Classic.

I was once out with a bunch of people at a bar, and they were all making a point of identifying who did the songs that were being played. There was one that nobody recognized and I said that I thought it might be Gino Vannelli. One of my friends said, "Gino Vannnelli? Who's Gino Vannelli? You're making that up."

Probably dud, but I haven't heard enough or really paid much attention to him.

(I think she liked me a bit, but I was too short for her, given her unusual height.)

when I worked in a record store (late 70s) this guy's album covers haunted me, glowering all sexy and come-hither from the racks. I always wondered 'who buys this stuff? 35 yr old divorcees?' Though we sold plenty of corny MOR stuff in that place, my question was never answered. Bet Michael Bolton knew who he was...

ah, for the days when "35 yr old divorcees" was an abstract concept.

The Akron, OH Audio Warehouse's system demo record ca. 1980 was an audiophile pressing of _Powerful People_. I swear it was on every freaking time I went into that store.

Hearing 'People Gotta Move' brings back memories of those shelves and shelves of turntables, unknowingly about to be cast asunder in the deluge. . .

Nightwalker (1981) is a classic. "Living Inside Myself", "Seek and Find", "Santa Rosa", the title cut....the maestro Colaiuta astounds throughout. His prior records are classic as well, in a "muscle car" rock sort of way. But this one seals his status as classic. Unfortunately, subsequent releases pale in comparison.

I had "Living Inside Myself" on K-Tel's Rock 80 compilation -- probably the most influential record on the development of my musical tastes. Nice sleeve picture of Gino on there, too -- walking. At night.

The Gist of the Gemini, you must admit, is a great record title.
