taking sides; indie dance vs alternative disco

the difference between them is something i`m not sure i`ve grasped. is the difference simply based on the particular styles of "dance" influential at the time the respective tags were coined? funk and disco as opposed to house? i dunno; i`m not feeling very coherent today. i have an idea in my head of what alternative disco sounds like and its an appealing one; i particularly want to get my hands on that weatherall mix "9 oclock drop". indie dance on the other hand seems really dull in hindsight (apart from a few exceptions, early mondays, the new fads, primal scream and others). am i deluding myself? is alternative disco a load of tosh not worth investigating? pick your corner

I've never heard the term "alternative disco" but I like it. It would be an ironic genre tag in the states, as "alternative" music is pretty much defined by how not disco it is.
