RFI: Does anyone know a free-ish way to convert an mp3 at 45rpm to 33?

As in, like, where the original is a vinyl rip obviously.

I now have underground on TWO formats and I *still* cannot hear it at the better speed, grah.

Not that accurate, but using Audition or something similar to resample it to a .733 ratio works okay.

if you have a wave editor...

reduce the pitch by whatever 33/45 is in percentage points... (73.3333333%)

Or if your wave editor only takes half-steps as a parameter to slow down a sound file.. (+12 to increase the speed by two, or -12 to half the speed) use the following formula.

X = 33/45 (in your case)

if N is the amount of half steps to reduce:

N = (12 / ln(2) ) * ln(X)

(where "ln" is the natural log of a number...)

From this calculation, reduce the half steps by -5.3695077

..then reconvert to mp3 as needed when desired result is achieved.

...

MATH!

You could load it into Kramixer and vary the pitch as much as you like.

Thanks, y'all! I will play with this.

Will "varying the pitch" change the length too?

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 17:18 (twenty-one years ago)

depends on the software.. many give you the choice. in this case, you want to change the length.

Or you can download Audacity and lower the rpm there, too.

Use Goldwave.
