Molotov, Con Todo Respeto

Mexican punk-hop funk band covers album, with all covers tweaked the fuck out: "Rock Me Amadeus" now "Amateur", "La Revo" is "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" en espanol, "Chavas" is the Beasties' "Girls", also a version of "Mi Abuela" that incorporates both "The Magnificent Seven" and "Bust a Move"). Probably woulda been my #2 or #3 album. God damn it.

Feist. Still haven't heard the album, but I love the single, and I really liked her first album.

Huk-L, Wednesday, 5 January 2005 15:14 (twenty-one years ago)

pretty toney is gaining steam two days into my life with it.

peter smith (plsmith), Wednesday, 5 January 2005 17:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Nancy & Lee 3, probably. Still haven't heard this yet. Seems to be more widely available now, albeit still v. pricey.

zebedee (zebedee), Wednesday, 5 January 2005 17:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Feist has more than one album?

(Let It Die is pretty good, although it's no C'mon Miracle)

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Wednesday, 5 January 2005 17:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Let It Die has some amazing songs on it!

As things stand now, Joanna Newsom, The Go! Team and Loretta Lynn don't really make the list... in a few months' time that may have to be revised. Or not.

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 5 January 2005 17:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Cam'ron, Purple Haze

maybe next year.

Raymond Cummings (Raymond Cummings), Wednesday, 5 January 2005 17:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Todd - "Purity Pledge"

would have been my album of the year had I not only bought it yesterday

Ben Dot (1977), Wednesday, 5 January 2005 20:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm just listening to the Susanna and the Magical Orchestra record right now and it's pretty darn lovely.

Mil (Mil), Wednesday, 5 January 2005 21:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Rachid Taha, Tekitoi. With a frickin' BULLET.

Haibun (Begs2Differ), Friday, 7 January 2005 19:14 (twenty-one years ago)

A few of those links are a bit wonky. Still.

You should come back to the ILM room on SLSK, John!

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Saturday, 8 January 2005 02:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Parhaps I shall. Mostly it's just that I'm so behind on listening to the music I already have that I'm not TRYING to get new stuff... I'm still getting about three or four new albums a day with that mentality.
But I really SHOULD get that stuff.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Saturday, 8 January 2005 02:41 (twenty-one years ago)

And Huk-L: Contact me about the Feist. It WAS one of my top ten and I would love to pass it on.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Saturday, 8 January 2005 02:42 (twenty-one years ago)

It's very conceivable that the Jorge Ben Jor album Reactivus Amor Est (Turbis Philosophorum) would have also made my list.
