In 1991, myself and friends were convinced that a show by this guy was a secret gig by Sonic Boom:

KeithW (kmw), Friday, 7 January 2005 11:26 (twenty years ago)

how does he feel about "Let It Come Down"?

Ask if he was happy with how the S3 rereleases (2CD "Playing With Fire", "Perfect Prescription") turned out.

Any plans to work again with guys like Thomas Koener? (I think a Sonic-Janek Schaffer collab would be great)

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Friday, 7 January 2005 17:48 (twenty years ago)

x-post

it was, keith.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Friday, 7 January 2005 17:54 (twenty years ago)

what was it like to get abandoned by your bandmates, again?

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 7 January 2005 17:55 (twenty years ago)

Tell him Chris Barrus and I say hi! And that Chris is currently at or about to reach NYC.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 7 January 2005 17:56 (twenty years ago)

Will he ever/can he gain control of his solo record and the first two/three Spectrum records so they can be properly reissued?

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 7 January 2005 17:56 (twenty years ago)

Simon... I'm sure this guy turned out to be a one man band for childrens' parties...

KeithW (kmw), Friday, 7 January 2005 18:03 (twenty years ago)

Ask him if he's still doing his ashtray/little toys stall at saddington car boot next summer.

flowersdie (flowersdie), Friday, 7 January 2005 18:15 (twenty years ago)

ask him, Prolapse: classic or dud?

Bobbieflathead, Friday, 7 January 2005 18:16 (twenty years ago)

This has probably been covered before, but how does he feel about Big City Brights Lights now? Does he ever get the urge to make something else in that vein?

Is he into any music that has come out in the last year or two?

Can he speak a little faster, please?

W i l l (common_person), Friday, 7 January 2005 18:36 (twenty years ago)

haha no pun intended

W i l l (common_person), Friday, 7 January 2005 18:37 (twenty years ago)

I'm sure this guy turned out to be a one man band for childrens' parties

and so did spectrum.

sorry. i am, of course, joking. i remember mr boom the children's entertainer. i think i interviewed him once.

as for sonic boom: ask him if he remembers the fucking mental gig he did at the east kilbride arts centre in 1997 or thereabouts, when me and my mate david [1] collared him afterwards and bored him shitless asking about drones. poor guy.

[1] i wanted to put a link to the thread in which david accidentally managed to submerge all his priceless spacemen 3 albums in plastic bags full of coffee, but it's taking too long to search.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Friday, 7 January 2005 18:45 (twenty years ago)

Ask him to tell me...how does it feel?

Trip Maker (Sean Witzman), Friday, 7 January 2005 18:49 (twenty years ago)

Ask him if he is aware that it is over? Follow-up question: does he wish he stayed in school?

Triple Ho, Friday, 7 January 2005 18:57 (twenty years ago)

He put on a sweet show in NY last fall.

LSTD (answer) (sexyDancer), Friday, 7 January 2005 18:58 (twenty years ago)

he's difficult to phase

noizem duke (noize duke), Friday, 7 January 2005 19:07 (twenty years ago)

"you want a hit off this?"

ddb (ddb), Friday, 7 January 2005 21:47 (twenty years ago)

Why don't you ask him what he thinks of Johnny-come-lately Mr.Boom: http://www.mrboom.co.uk/

KeithW (kmw), Friday, 7 January 2005 21:51 (twenty years ago)

Ask him why, when he played with Yo La Tengo and Neil Innes and Robyn Hitchcock, he seemed only to make whoooooosh wind sounds.

Acme (acme), Friday, 7 January 2005 23:29 (twenty years ago)

does he still have his snack cake fortune?

keith m (keithmcl), Saturday, 8 January 2005 01:23 (twenty years ago)

Why did EAR's Ring make me feel that I was having a simultaneous heart attack and brain haemorrage?

Ben Dot (1977), Saturday, 8 January 2005 01:55 (twenty years ago)

I'd like to hear him talk a bit more about his interest in Delia Derbyshire's music. Did he end up collaborating with her before her death?
