I accidentally rebumped into this on iTunes shuffle and I can't believe how well it's aged.
Incredibubble.
Five Super-Classic replies talks me into posting this online.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Friday, 7 January 2005 23:18 (twenty years ago)

Super Classic.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 7 January 2005 23:20 (twenty years ago)

Super Classic

Atnevon (Atnevon), Friday, 7 January 2005 23:20 (twenty years ago)

Super Classique!!

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 7 January 2005 23:22 (twenty years ago)

Oh, Christ, I remember the first time I heard that. I was home sick from sixth grade. Super classic.

Jeff Reguilon (Talent Explosion), Friday, 7 January 2005 23:26 (twenty years ago)

Yikes...I listened to it recently and was marveling at how horribly it's aged. Their voices are insta-self-parody and it pales in comparison to its melodic source, New Edition's "If It Isn't Love."

Rich (Rich), Friday, 7 January 2005 23:33 (twenty years ago)

Didn't like it at the time... No. Liked it, but pretended not to. Sing it constantly every time the name comes into my consciousness, i.e. if someone called Aisha, Iesha or Aiesha appears on TV.

Super-classic, especially for that chorus. No surprise they got into people's heads, they were so bloody tiny.

edward o (edwardo), Friday, 7 January 2005 23:33 (twenty years ago)

WE PLAYED NINTENDOooooooo

cutty (mcutt), Friday, 7 January 2005 23:38 (twenty years ago)

I love that song. I found it recently on an old mix one song after Jump by Kriss Kross. Fucking ace.

Molly, Friday, 7 January 2005 23:39 (twenty years ago)

now remember iesha... only you can peep this...
peeeeeace.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Friday, 7 January 2005 23:42 (twenty years ago)

g--ff (gcannon), Friday, 7 January 2005 23:43 (twenty years ago)

g--ff: agreed, and this version does.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Friday, 7 January 2005 23:43 (twenty years ago)

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 7 January 2005 23:46 (twenty years ago)

superclassic! love it.

daria g (daria g), Saturday, 8 January 2005 00:06 (twenty years ago)

that's usually a bad sign when someone has to come on during the song and tell the listener to keep listening. (xp)

Danzig and Jeanne-Claude (deangulberry), Saturday, 8 January 2005 00:08 (twenty years ago)

After the second verse there's a break where they sample the NE roll call from "Cool It Now"! No points for subtlety, Biv!

Super-classic.

miccio (miccio), Saturday, 8 January 2005 00:10 (twenty years ago)

i had this on cassingle!

Danzig and Jeanne-Claude (deangulberry), Saturday, 8 January 2005 00:14 (twenty years ago)

I think I prefer "Motownphilly" as far as Biv Presents debut videos go. Dude raps while taking a shit in that!

miccio (miccio), Saturday, 8 January 2005 00:16 (twenty years ago)

"Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky, and Mike!"

"Chris, Mark, Red, Dave, Ro!"

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Saturday, 8 January 2005 00:23 (twenty years ago)

Danzig and Jeanne-Claude (deangulberry), Saturday, 8 January 2005 01:08 (twenty years ago)

I also remeber enjoying their copyright-infringement-dodging jam "Spyderman."

This disc is available on Amazon.com used for .24 cents!
(or $18.99 if you want it in a sealed longbox!!!!)

Chuckling at the Tomkat's Marquee (Ben Boyer), Saturday, 8 January 2005 01:21 (twenty years ago)

oh this songs rules. its lots like "poison" but with kids singing about playing on the monkey bars and shit. AWESOME.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 8 January 2005 04:05 (twenty years ago)

"Playground" and "Iesha" were the same song, pretty much, right? I don't think I'm remembering them correctly.

Joseph McCombs (Joseph McCombs), Saturday, 8 January 2005 05:01 (twenty years ago)

-- Joseph McCombs (jmccomb...), January 8th, 2005.

didn't they have the same beat as "poison"
and there was a follow up album which flopped, tanked then bombed.
was there a 3rd album by abc ?
bbd had a 3rd album but the gangsta rap sound was too hard for me.
i liked"immature "don't lie"too

bbd boy, Saturday, 8 January 2005 05:25 (twenty years ago)

I still want to know if Sudden Impact (the white boys flash-photoed in the Motownphilly vid) ever released anything, and what it sounded like.

Joseph McCombs (Joseph McCombs), Saturday, 8 January 2005 05:28 (twenty years ago)

Interesting question. Apparently they changed their name to the Wyte Guyz (seriously) and appear on
this Biv compilation.

BONUS TREAT: The Motownphilly video.
Sudden Impact/Wyte Guyz guest at 2:38.
God, I love the internet.
Dude raps while taking a shit in that!
I had COMPLETELY forgotten that part. Heh.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Saturday, 8 January 2005 06:02 (twenty years ago)

They also seem to have had a deal with Capital Records?

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Saturday, 8 January 2005 06:06 (twenty years ago)

I swear everyone in my sixth grade class had "Coolin at the Playground Ya Know".

xAARONHZx, EXTREME ILXOR LOOK ALL CAPS (AaronHz), Saturday, 8 January 2005 06:19 (twenty years ago)

Which reminds me, whatever became of Haydn, the Chris Farley look-a-like who had a line in the Biv 10 "All For One" tune?

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Saturday, 8 January 2005 16:17 (twenty years ago)

I weep for the ALEXVANDERPOOLEERA.

Daniel Cohen (dayan), Saturday, 8 January 2005 21:06 (twenty years ago)

i like in the video when they "take you to the bridge" they're actually standing on a bridge

chaki in charge (chaki), Saturday, 8 January 2005 21:12 (twenty years ago)

I weep for the ALEXVANDERPOOLEERA.

But it's coming soon!

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Saturday, 8 January 2005 22:03 (twenty years ago)

The upside of spam is that it fishes up old memories; I completely forgot I made this thread!
It goes on now!

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Sunday, 30 April 2006 22:15 (nineteen years ago)

How is this not on youtube?

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Sunday, 30 April 2006 22:16 (nineteen years ago)

t/s Iesha vs. Playground

Also, either song should be played in a set that also includes Poison by BBD, and preferably also Motownphilly by Boyz II Men.

Abbadavid Berman (Hurting), Monday, 1 May 2006 12:47 (nineteen years ago)

a lot of good threads bumped by spam today!

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Monday, 1 May 2006 13:08 (nineteen years ago)

Hey Man, Remember The East Coast Family.

Two Scoops (Magic Duster), Monday, 1 May 2006 13:59 (nineteen years ago)

Holy crap, how many people did Michael Bivins sign?

OMG Whytgize?!?!?!

Abbadavid Berman (Hurting), Monday, 1 May 2006 14:11 (nineteen years ago)

Ah ha! Misspelled!
Shitty dub, but extended version!

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 1 May 2006 18:30 (nineteen years ago)

iesha, she was the girl i never had

hell yes i was bumping this on my little kareoke tape player machine when it came out.

ath (ath), Monday, 1 May 2006 19:10 (nineteen years ago)

I'd forgotten how completely disjointed that East Coast Family single was. Not so much a song as an infomercial for the label.

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Monday, 1 May 2006 19:23 (nineteen years ago)

Nice. Even better than I remember. The kid who raps at the beginning flows kind of like Will Smith in his Fresh Prince days. I also like how they use the same dance shots at least two or three times.

Abbadavid Berman (Hurting), Monday, 1 May 2006 19:26 (nineteen years ago)

I need to listen to this again, it is a fantastic single.

The Mercury Krueger (Ex Leon), Monday, 1 May 2006 19:30 (nineteen years ago)

Did Mike Bivins invent that promotional commentary in the middle of a single thing? He does that on Motownphilly as well, if I remember correctly.

Abbadavid Berman (Hurting), Monday, 1 May 2006 19:34 (nineteen years ago)

one year passes...

This is a straight up heater.

Dom Passantino, Monday, 18 February 2008 20:02 (seventeen years ago)
