Not really. To be honest I've pretty much gone off music. Golf's good though. I have got into the odd round of golf now and then.

I think that the punk-szene is a bit boring since Refused released their "Shape of Punk to Come" album. The last great punk-record, I think.

calling rancid 'hardcore punk' sounds like something my 12 year old sister would do because she saw that one guy had a mohawk. btw the clash rulez!

Racid are a retro band, pure and simpe. But, as others have suggested, their music -- despite their spikey appearance -- is far more hooky/poppy/accessible than classic hardcore ala the Circle Jerks, Minor Threat, Bad Brains et al. I think Rancid are capable of that sorta stuff, but I think their need to sell records prevents them. They may look like vintage G.B.H., but their sound is a lot more welcoming.

In any event, while I've never been a huge fan of theirs, they've managed the odd great track/single. Still, I wouldn't put them anywhere near the same league as vintage hardcore bands. But, then again, the world was a different place when the DK's, Black Flag, DOA et al. were makin' the `rounds.

Their 2000 s/t album is pretty close to the whole vintage GBH/Discharge/Exploited kinda thing, just catchier and a lot more nicely recorded (better than the Casualties or the Unseen, anyway).

Rancid are kinda to old-school punk what Stray Cats were to Rockabilly.
