about the 'wistful repertoire' discussion...

Is it really possible to "dismental" a song in such a way that its' performance, production and so on wont be of any value at all? I'm not sure such thing is even possible- apart of the theoretical aspect of course; that is, a song stripped out of his "body" would simply the notes written on a paper. When a song is written, it lives straight away in his creator's mind- it's got a specific sound, so to speak, and generally a fram in which it will eventually come out. Of course, this is how I see it... Then if it is indeed so- then how can we think of a song as 'wisful', energetic, happy and so on when examining it's "theoretical" structure? For me, songs are what they are- as we hear them, imagine them, perform them and so on- and it's the whole thing that brings us to tears, dance, smile, think etc'...

What do you think..?

(i think "dismental" is the best evah made-up word on ILM, except maybe for micheal reed's typo-improved description of Eartha Kitt's sexlife as "vovacious")
