Chris Martin wears the pants around here

Hollywood star GWYNETH PALTROW has hit out at claims she bosses rocker husband CHRIS MARTIN around.

The COLDPLAY frontman has been left holding the couple's seven-month-old daughter APPLE while Paltrow promoted her recent movie SKY CAPTAIN AND THE WORLD OF TOMORROW, which hit cinemas in the US and much of Europe last year (04), but has yet to be released in Australia.

But Paltrow insists she doesn't force Martin to baby-sit. She tells PAGESIX.COM, "I've never said that. I hope he doesn't read this, he would kill me. I definitely don't boss him around."

Really.

Wasn't Martin - goofy love-stooge icon and rank lyricist - offering to be every girl's perfect puppy dog for the length of 'Parachutes'? No wonder the mild clod won favour with Lady Gwyneth when she spotted in the window. She knew what he was in for. So if it's what they both want, why the hand-wringing?

is this about music?

Stevem On X (blueski), Wednesday, 12 January 2005 11:40 (twenty years ago)

Tsk. Chris Martin is a singer with the band The Coldplay, silly!

Masked Gazza, Wednesday, 12 January 2005 11:45 (twenty years ago)

i like 'mild clod' as an insult tho

Stevem On X (blueski), Wednesday, 12 January 2005 11:55 (twenty years ago)

The music was in Martin's personal ad for his own nanny.

Stephen Stockwell (Stephen Stockwell), Wednesday, 12 January 2005 12:10 (twenty years ago)

"is this about music?"

It's hard to say: what "this" are you referring to: this specific thread; Chris Martin's marriage to Gwyneth Paltrow; Coldplay's back catalogue; or ILM in general?

I think it is really really really important that we all discuss this topic very seriously and come to some sort of consensus.

ok, let's make this on topic and about music, then: Gwyneth Paltrow's duet with Huey Lewis is more entertaining than Coldplay's entire career.

Al (sitcom), Wednesday, 12 January 2005 18:02 (twenty years ago)

And what is this strange effort to which you speak?

"Hip to be Will (Love Theme From Shakespeare in Love)"

How soon we forget the transcedent glory of "Yellow"

miccio (miccio), Wednesday, 12 January 2005 18:04 (twenty years ago)

i may post that Chris Martin photo to future ILM threads by you know who

How soon we forget the transcedent glory of "Yellow"

I cannot parse this sentence.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 12 January 2005 18:05 (twenty years ago)

And let the eternal candle flame be lit for "clocks" which had a descending piano line.

miccio (miccio), Wednesday, 12 January 2005 18:23 (twenty years ago)

note my choice of words, Anthony: "entertaining", not "transcendence".

Al (sitcom), Wednesday, 12 January 2005 18:27 (twenty years ago)

what could be more entertaining than sweet billowing rapture?

miccio (miccio), Wednesday, 12 January 2005 18:38 (twenty years ago)

I THINK CALLUM IS WYA HOTTER THAN CHRIST MARTIN! BUMP

"HOUSE OF! SMITTEN MICCIO!"

No, Bimble, this thread heralds no show-stopping paradigm shift or anything. I merely saw a valve to vent my long-standing contempt for the work of Chris Martin, and leapt on it. For the last few years, it's been pathetic to watch him sow the seeds for a million co-dependent relationships the world over. Consensus may be acknowledging the damage done by objectifying one's partner, but it seems we're no closer to dealing with subjectification, vis a vis Gwyneth Paltrow finding the frog of her dreams.

Just a bugbear of mine.

Stephen Stockwell (Stephen Stockwell), Wednesday, 12 January 2005 22:03 (twenty years ago)

on a related topic, is it possible that the new Coldplay album soon to be released could be the "death of our soft rock", the way Mr. Martin claims it to be?

JD from CDepot, Wednesday, 12 January 2005 23:54 (twenty years ago)

will they still sound like dave matthews then?
